We have Sent the Qur'an Progressively that you might Recite it over a Prolonged Period

So Muhammad may Warn Mecca and those Cities around it, for he is Only a Warner Before a Severe Punishment

17:106 - 108, Qur'an
[This is] a Qur'an which We have separated [by intervals] that you might recite it to the people over a prolonged period.  And We have sent it down progressively.  [So] say, "Believe in it or do not believe."  Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration, and they say, "Exalted is our Lord!  Indeed, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled."

25:32, Qur'an
[But] those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur'an not revealed to him all at once?"  Thus it is that We may strengthen thereby your heart.  And We have spaced it distinctly -

36:6 - 7, Qur'an
That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warnedso they are unaware.  Already the word has come into effect upon most of them, so they do not believe.

9:126 - 127, Qur'an
Do they not see that they are tried every year once or twice but then they do not repent nor do they remember?  And whenever a surah is revealed, they look at each other, [saying], "Does anyone see you?" and then they dismiss themselves.  God has dismissed their hearts because they are a people who do not understand.

Isaiah 28:13, Torah
[For] the word of the Lord was to them precept upon preceptprecept upon preceptline upon lineline upon linehere a little, and there a littlethat they might go, and fall backward, and be broken and snared and taken.

68:44 - 45, Qur'an
So leave Me, with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur'an.  We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know.  And I will give them time.  Indeed, My plan is firm.

76:23, Qur'an
[For] indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, the Qur'an progressively.

7:184, Qur'an
Then do they not give thought?  There is in their companion [Muhammad] no madness.  He is not but a clear warner.

34:46, Qur'an
[So] say [O Muhammad], "I only advise you of one thing - that you stand for God, seeking truth in pairs and individually, and then give thought."  There is not in your companion any madness.  He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment.

22:42 - 44, Qur'an
[But] if they deny you [Muhammad], - so, before them, did the people of Noah and 'Aad and Thamud deny, and the people of Abraham and the people of Lot and the inhabitants of Midian.  And Moses was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

73:15 - 16, Qur'an
[And so] We have sent to you a messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.  But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.

11:25 - 26, Qur'an
And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Indeed, I am to you a clear warnerthat you not worship except God.  Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a painful day."

46:9, Qur'an
[So] say, "I am not something original among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you.  I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am not but a clear warner."

42:7, Qur'an
And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur'an that you may warn the Mother of Cities [Mecca] and those around it and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt.

10:102, Qur'an
So do they wait except for like [what occurred in] the days of those who passed on before them?  Say, "Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait."

37:177 - 179, Qur'an
But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the dawn of those who were warned.  And leave them for a time.  And see, for they are going to see.

We have Certainly Given you Seven of the Often Repeated Narrations and the Great Qur'an

We Sent Our Messengers - Noah, Hud, Salih, Abraham, Lot, Shu'ayb, and Moses - then Made them Narrations

23:44, Qur'an
We sent Our messengers in succession.  Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations.  So away with a people who do not believe.

15:84 - 87, Qur'an
So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.  And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth.  And indeed, the Hour is comingso forgive with gracious forgiveness.  Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.  And We have certainly given you, seven of the often repeated [narrations] and the great Qur'an.

22:42 - 44, Qur'an
[But] if they deny you, - so, before them, did the people of Noah [1] and 'Aad [2] and Thamud [3] deny [their prophets], and the people of Abraham [4] and the people of Lot [5] and the inhabitants of Midian [6].  And Moses [7] was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

26:103 - 106, Qur'an
[So] indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.  And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful The people of Noah [1] denied the messengers, when their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear God?"

26:121 - 124, Qur'an
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.  And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.  'Aad [2] denied the messengers, when their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God?"

26:139 - 142, Qur'an
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.  And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.  Thamud [3] denied the messengers, when their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear God?"

26:67 - 70, Qur'an
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.  And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.  And recite to them the news of Abraham [4], when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"

26:158 - 161, Qur'an
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.  And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.  The people of Lot [5] denied the messengers, when their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God?"

26:174 - 177, Qur'an
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.  And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.  The companions of the thicket [6] denied the messengers, when Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God?"

26:8 - 11, Qur'an
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.  And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.  And when your Lord called Moses [7], [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - the people of Pharaoh.  Will they not fear God?"

26:190 - 191, Qur'an
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.  And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

39:23, Qur'an
[Thus] God has sent down the best statementa consistent Book wherein is reiterationThe skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of God.  That is the guidance of God by which He guides whom He wills.  And one whom God leaves astray - for him there is no guide.

12:111, Qur'an
[For] there was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding.  Never was the Qur'an a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and guidance and mercy for a people who believe.

11:120, Qur'an
[So] each story We relate to you from the news of the messengers is that by which We make firm your heart.  And there has come to you, in this, the truth and an instruction and a reminder for the believers -

60:6, Qur'an
[Whereby] there has certainly been for you in [Abraham and those with him] an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in God and the Last Day.  And whoever turns away - then indeed, God is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.

The Qur'an is Distinct Verses Preserved in the Breasts of those who were Given Knowledge

And We Caused to Inherit the Book those We have Chosen of Our Servants

35:31, Qur'an
That which We have revealed to you [O Muhammad] of the Book is the truth, confirming what was before it.  Indeed, God, of His servants, is Acquainted and Seeing.

75:16 - 19, Qur'an
[So] move not your tongue with it, to hasten with recitation of [the Qur'an].  Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.  So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.  Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].

29:47 - 49, Qur'an
[For it is] We [who] have sent down to you the Qur'an.  And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture believe in it.  And among these [people of Mecca] are those who believe in it.  And none reject Our verses except the disbelievers.  And you did not recite before it any scripture, nor did you inscribe one with your right hand.  Otherwise the falsifiers would have had [cause for] doubt.  Rather, [the Qur'an] is distinct verses [preserved] within the breasts of those who have been given knowledge.  And none reject Our verses except the wrongdoers.

2:120 - 121, Qur'an
[So] never will the Jews or the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion.  Say, "Indeed, the guidance of God is the [only] guidance." If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against God no protector or helper.  Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital.  They [are the ones who] believe in it.  And whoever disbelieves in it - it is they who are the losers.

18:27, Qur'an
[So] recite, what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord.  There is no changer of His words, and never will you find in other than Him a refuge.

35:32, Qur'an
Then We caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants; and among them is he who wrongs himself, and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of God.  That [inheritance] is what is the great bounty.
