1 Chronicles 17:2
Then Nathan said to David, "Do all that [is] in your heart; for God [is] with you."

1 Chronicles 17:3
And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

1 Chronicles 17:4
"Go and tell David My servant, 'Thus the Lord says, 'You will not build Me a House to dwell in.

1 Chronicles 17:5
For I have not dwelt in a House since the day that I brought up Israel to this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from [one] tabernacle [to another].

1 Chronicles 17:6
Wherever I have walked with all Israel, I spoke a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed My people, saying, 'Why have you not built Me a House of cedars?'

1 Chronicles 17:7
Now therefore you will thus say to My servant David, 'Thus the Lord of hosts says, 'I took you from the sheepcote, [even] from following the sheep, that you should be ruler over My people Israel.

1 Chronicles 17:8
And I have been with you wherever you have walked, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a name like the name of the great men who [are] in the earth.

1 Chronicles 17:9
Also, I will ordain a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, and they will dwell in their place, and will be moved no more; neither will the children of wickedness waste them anymore, as at the beginning,

1 Chronicles 17:10
And since the time that I commanded judges [to be] over My people Israel. Moreover, I will subdue all your enemies. Furthermore, I tell you that the Lord will build you a house.

1 Chronicles 17:11
And it will come to pass, when your days are expired, that you must go [to be] with your fathers, that I will raise up your seed after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

But I will settle him in My house and in My kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forevermore.'"

1 Chronicles 17:15
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David.

1 Chronicles 17:16
And David the king came and sat before the Lord, and said, "Who [am] I, O Lord God, and what [is] my house, that You have brought me here?

1 Chronicles 17:17
And [yet] this was a small thing in Your eyes, O God; for You have [also] spoken of Your servant's house for a great while to come, and have regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Lord God.

1 Chronicles 17:18
What can David [speak] more to You for the honor of Your servant? For You know Your servant.

1 Chronicles 17:19
O Lord, for Your servant's sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all this greatness, in making known all [these] great things.

1 Chronicles 17:20
O Lord, [there are] none like You, neither [is there any] god beside You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

1 Chronicles 17:21
And what one nation in the earth [is] like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem [to be] His own people, to make You a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before Your people, whom You have redeemed out of Egypt?

1 Chronicles 17:22
For You made Your people Israel Your own people forever; and You, Lord, became their God.

1 Chronicles 17:23
Therefore now, Lord, let the thing that You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house be established forever, and do as You have said.

1 Chronicles 17:24
Let it even be established, that Your name may be magnified forever, saying, 'The Lord of hosts [is] the God of Israel, [even] a God to Israel, and [let] the house of David Your servant [be] established before You.'

1 Chronicles 17:25
For You, O my God, have told Your servant that You will build him a house, therefore Your servant has found [in his heart] to pray before You.

1 Chronicles 17:26
And now, Lord, You are God, and have promised this goodness to Your servant.

1 Chronicles 17:27
Now therefore let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may be before You forever, for You bless, O Lord, and [it will be] blessed forever."

Then David put [garrisons] in Syrian Damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, [and] brought gifts. Thus the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

1 Chronicles 18:7
And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

1 Chronicles 18:8
Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, whereby Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

1 Chronicles 18:9
Now when Tou, king of Hamath, heard how David had struck all the host of Hadarezer, king of Zobah;

1 Chronicles 18:10
He sent Hadoram, his son, to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and struck him (for Hadarezer had war with Tou); and [with him] all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

1 Chronicles 18:11
King David also dedicated them to the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all [these] nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

1 Chronicles 18:12
Moreover, Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt, eighteen thousand.

1 Chronicles 18:13
And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

1 Chronicles 18:14
So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.

And Joab, the son of Zeruiah, [was] over the host; and Jehoshaphat, the son of Ahilud, recorder.

And Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, [was] over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David [were] chief about the king.

1 Chronicles 19:1
Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash, the king of the children of Ammon, died, and his son reigned in his stead.

1 Chronicles 19:2
And David said, "I will show kindness to Hanun, the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me." And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.

1 Chronicles 19:3
But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, "Do you think that David honors your father, that he has sent comforters to you? Have his servants not come to you to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?"

1 Chronicles 19:4
Therefore Hanun took David's servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the midst by their buttocks, and sent them away.

1 Chronicles 19:5
Then [some] went and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, "Sit at Jericho until your beards have grown, and [then] return."

1 Chronicles 19:6
And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire themselves chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Syrian Maachah, and out of Zobah.

1 Chronicles 19:7
So they hired thirty two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.

1 Chronicles 19:8
And when David heard [of it], he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.

1 Chronicles 19:9
And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array before the gate of the city, and the kings who were brought [were] by themselves in the field.

1 Chronicles 19:10
Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Israel, and put [them] in array against the Syrians.

1 Chronicles 19:11
And he delivered the rest of the people to the hand of Abishai his brother, and they set [themselves] in array against the children of Ammon.

1 Chronicles 19:12
And he said, "If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you will help me, but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.

1 Chronicles 19:13
Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God, and let the Lord do [that which is] good in His sight."

1 Chronicles 19:14
So Joab and the people who [were] with him drew near before the Syrians to the battle; and they fled before him.

1 Chronicles 19:15
And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.

1 Chronicles 19:16

And it was told to David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set [the battle] in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.

But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians, seven thousand [men who fought in] chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach, the captain of the host.

1 Chronicles 19:19
And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants, neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon anymore.

1 Chronicles 20:1
And it came to pass, that after the year had expired, at the time that kings go out [to battle], Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David abode at Jerusalem. And Joab struck Rabbah, and destroyed it.

1 Chronicles 20:2
And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and [there were] precious stones in it; and it was set upon David's head, and he also brought exceedingly much spoil out of the city.

1 Chronicles 20:3
And he brought out the people who [were] in it, and cut [them] with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so David dealt with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

1 Chronicles 21:2
And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, "Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know [it]."

1 Chronicles 21:3
And Joab answered, "The Lord, make His people a hundred times so many more than they [are], but, my lord the king, [are] they not all my lord's servants? Why then does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?"

1 Chronicles 21:4
Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

1 Chronicles 21:5
And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people to David. And all [those of] Israel were a thousand thousand and a hundred thousand men who drew swords, and Judah [was] four hundred seventy thousand men who drew the sword.

1 Chronicles 21:6
But he did not count Levi and Benjamin among them, for the king's word was abominable to Joab.

1 Chronicles 21:7
And God was displeased with this thing; therefore He struck Israel.

1 Chronicles 21:8
And David said to God, "I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing, but now, I beseech You, do away the iniquity of Your servant; for I have done very foolishly."

1 Chronicles 21:10
"Go and tell David, saying, 'Thus the Lord says, 'I offer you three [things], choose one of them, that I may do [it] to you.'"

1 Chronicles 21:11
So Gad came to David, and said to him, "Thus the Lord says, 'Choose

1 Chronicles 21:12
Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes [you]; or else the sword of the Lord for three days, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the Lord destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise yourself what word I will bring again to Him who sent me.'"

1 Chronicles 21:13
And David said to Gad, "I am in a great strait, let me fall now into the hand of the Lord; for very great [are] His mercies, but let me not fall into the hand of man."

1 Chronicles 21:14
So the Lord sent pestilence upon Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.

1 Chronicles 21:15
And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he was destroying, the Lord beheld, and He repented of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, "It is enough, relax your hand now." And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

1 Chronicles 21:16

Please let Your hand O Lord my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on Your people, that they should be plagued."

Then the angel of the Lord commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar to the Lord in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

1 Chronicles 21:21
And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and prostrated to David with [his] face to the ground.

1 Chronicles 21:22
Then David said to Ornan, "Grant me the place of [this] threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein to the Lord, you will grant it me for the full price, that the plague may be stayed from the people."

1 Chronicles 21:23
And Ornan said to David, "Take [it] to you, and let my lord the king do [that which is] good in his eyes, look, I give [you] the oxen [also] for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all."

1 Chronicles 21:24
And king David said to Ornan, "No; but I will verily buy it for the full price, for I will not take [that] which [is] yours for the Lord, nor offer burnt offerings without cost."

1 Chronicles 21:25
So David gave to Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the place.

Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a House for the Lord God of Israel.

1 Chronicles 22:7
And David said to Solomon, "My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a House to the name of the Lord my God.

1 Chronicles 22:8
But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'You have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars, you will not build a House to My Name, because you have shed much blood upon the earth in My sight.

1 Chronicles 22:9
Behold, a son will be born to you, who will be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about, for his name will be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.

1 Chronicles 22:10
He will build a House for My name; and he will be My son, and I [will be] his Father; *Hebrews 1:5 and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.'

1 Chronicles 22:11
Now, my son, the Lord is with you; and prosper, and build the House of the Lord your God, as He has said of you.

1 Chronicles 22:12
Only the Lord gives you wisdom and understanding, and gives you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

1 Chronicles 22:13
Then you will prosper, if you take heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel, be strong, and of good courage; do not dread, nor be dismayed.

1 Chronicles 22:14
Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the House of the Lord a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance, I have also prepared timber and stone; and you may add thereto.

1 Chronicles 22:15
Moreover [there are] workmen with you in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.

1 Chronicles 22:16
Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, [there is] no number. Arise [therefore], and do [it], and the Lord will be with you."

David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, [saying],

1 Chronicles 22:18
"[Is] the Lord your God not with you? And has He [not] given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before the Lord, and before His people.

1 Chronicles 22:19
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; arise therefore, and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God, into the House that is to be built to the name of the Lord."
