Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been in submission [to God].
15:3
Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.
15:4
And We did not destroy any city except that there was a known decree for it.
15:5
No nation will advance its term, nor will they postpone it.
15:6
And they say, "O you whom the message has been sent down upon, indeed you are possessed [by devils of jinn]. *Matthew 11:18, *Luke 7:33, *John 7:20, *John 8:48, *John 10:20
15:7
Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?"
15:8
We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.
15:9
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder and indeed, We will be its Guardian.
15:10
And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, among the sects of the former [peoples].
15:11
And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. *2 Chronicles 36:16
15:12
Thus, We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.
15:13
They will not believe in it, while the precedent of the former [peoples] has already occurred.
15:14
And [even] if We opened a gate to them from the heaven and they continued to ascend therein,
15:15
They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic."
15:16
And We have placed strongholds within the heaven and have beautified it for the observers.
15:17
And We have protected it from every devil, expelled [from the Garden],
15:18
Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame.
15:19
And the earth - We have spread it *Isaiah 42:5, *Isaiah 44:24 and cast firmly set [mountains] therein and caused [something] of every well-balanced thing to grow therein.
15:20
And We have made a means of living for you therein, and [also for] those whom you are not providers for.
15:21
And there is not a thing except that its depositories are with Us, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure.
15:22
And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the heaven and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.
15:23
And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, *Deuteronomy 32:39, *1 Samuel 2:6, *4 Maccabees 18:19 and We are the Inheritors.
15:24
And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come].
15:25
And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.
15:26
And We certainly created man out of clay *Genesis 2:7 from an altered black mud.
15:27
And We created the jinn before from scorching fire.
15:28
And when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.
15:29
And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him *Genesis 2:7, *2 Ezra 3:5 of My [Holy] Spirit, then fall down to him in prostration." *Hebrews 1:6
15:30
So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely,
15:31
Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated.
15:32
[God] said, "O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?"
15:33
He said, "I would never prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay ~*Gospel of Barnabas 35:3 from an altered black mud."
15:34
[God] said, "Then get out of [the Garden], for indeed, you are expelled.
15:35
And indeed, the curse is upon you until the Day of the Religion."
15:36
[Iblees] said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."
15:37
[God] said, "So indeed, you are among those reprieved
15:38
Until the Day of the well-known time."
15:39
[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have made me err, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all,
15:40
Except Your chosen servants among them."
15:41
[God] said, "This is the straight path to Me.
15:42
Indeed, you will have no authority over My servants, except those who follow you among the deviators.
15:43
And indeed, Gehenna is the promised place for them all.
15:44
It has seven gates; there is a designated portion among them for every gate."
15:45
Indeed, those who fear [God will be] within gardens and springs. *Book of Enoch 48:1
15:46
[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]."
15:47
And We will remove whatever is in their hearts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, facing each other on thrones. *Book of Enoch 108:12
15:48
No fatigue will touch them therein, nor will they [ever] be removed from it.
15:49
Inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful.
15:50
And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.
15:51
And inform them about the guests of Abraham,
15:52
When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you."
15:53
[The angels] said, "Do not fear. Indeed, we give you good news of a knowledgeable boy." *Genesis 18:10
15:54
He said, "Have you given me good news although old age has come upon me? Then what do you give good news about?"
15:55
They said, "We have given you good news in truth, so do not be among the despairing."
15:56
He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"
15:57
[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"
15:58
They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals,
15:59
Except the family of Lot." Indeed, We will save them all
15:60
Except his wife - We decreed that she is among those who remain behind.
15:61
And when the messengers came to the family of Lot,
15:62
He said, "Indeed, you are a wrongdoing people."
15:63
They said, "No, we have come to you with that which they were disputing about,
15:64
And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.
15:65
So set out with your family *Genesis 19:15 during a portion of the night and follow behind them and do not let anyone among you look back *Genesis 19:17 and continue on to where you are commanded."
15:66
And We conveyed [the decree] of that matter to him - that the roots of those [sinners] would be cut off by [early] morning. *Genesis 19:23

And the people of the city came rejoicing.
15:68
[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.
15:69
And fear God and do not disgrace me."
15:70
They said, "Did we not forbid you from the world?"
15:71
[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." *Genesis 19:8

By your life, indeed they were wandering blindly in their intoxication.
15:73
So the shriek seized them ~*Amos 1:2, ~*Amos 2:2, ~*Joel 2:11, ~*Joel 3:16 at sunrise. *Genesis 19:23

And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained stones of hard clay upon them. *Genesis 19:24, *Luke 17:29
15:75
Indeed, there are signs in that for those who discern.
15:76
And indeed, [Sodom is situated] on an established road.
15:77
Indeed, there is a sign in that for the believers.
15:78
And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.
15:79
So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.
15:80
And the companions of the Rocky Tract [Thamud] certainly denied the messengers.
15:81
And We gave them Our signs, but they were turning away from them.
15:82
And they used to carve houses from the mountains, feeling secure.
15:83
But the shriek seized them ~*Amos 1:2, ~*Amos 2:2, ~*Joel 2:11, ~*Joel 3:16 in the [early] morning.
15:84
So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.
15:85
And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.
15:86
Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.
15:87
And We have certainly given you seven of the often repeated [narrations] and the great Qur'an.
15:88
Do not extend your eyes toward that which We have given enjoyment to [certain] pairs of them, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers
15:89
And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" -
15:90
Just as We had sent down to the separators -
15:91
Those who have made the Qur'an into portions.
15:92
So by your Lord, We will surely question them all
15:93
About what they used to do.
15:94
Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists.
15:95
Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers
15:96
Who make another god [equal] with God. But they are going to know.
15:97
And We already know that your heart is constrained by what they say.
15:98
So exalt [God] with praise of your Lord and be among those who prostrate [to Him].
