He Asks, "When is the Day of Judgement?" So Say, "Did God Not Destroy the Former Peoples of Noah and Sodom? Then He will Destroy the Later Ones"

For God Made them a Precedent and an Example for the Later Peoples, for there is an Appointed Term for the Destruction of Every City and Nation that has Wronged

75:6, Qur'an
[So] he asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?

77:14 - 17, Qur'an
And what can make you know what the Day of [Judgement] is?"
[So say,] "Woe to the deniers that Day.  Did We not destroy the former [peoples]?  Then We will follow them with the later ones -

25:37, Qur'an
[For remember] the people of Noah - when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful punishment for the wrongdoers -

[2 Ezra 2:8 - 9], Torah
[For] remember what I did to Sodom and Gomorrah, you wicked people;
whose land lies in clods of pitch and heaps of ashes; even so will I also do to those who do not hear Me," the Almighty Lord says -

2 Peter 2:6, Gospel
[For] turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, [God] condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example to those after that should live ungodly -

11:82 - 83, Qur'an
[For] when Our command came, We made the highest part [of Sodom] its lowest and rained stones of layered hard clay upon them,
[which were] marked from your Lord. And [God's punishment] is not far from the wrongdoers.

43:55 - 56, Qur'an
And when [Pharaoh and the Egyptians] angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all.
And We made them a precedent and an example for the later [peoples] -

17:58, Qur'an
[For] there is no city except that We will [either] destroy it or punish it with a severe punishment before the Day of Resurrection. That has been inscribed in the Book.

18:58 - 59, Qur'an
[But] your Lord is the Forgiving, full of mercy. If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened the punishment for them. Rather, there is an appointment for them from which they will never find an escape.
[For] We [also] made an appointed time for the destruction [of] those cities [of the former peoples] - [and] We destroyed them when they wronged.

7:34, Qur'an
And [so] there is [also] an [appointed] term for every nation [to be destroyed]. So when their time has come, they will not postpone it an hour, nor will they advance [it].

51:59 - 60, Qur'an
[So] indeed, there is a portion [of punishment] for those who have wronged like the portion of their predecessors, so do not let them impatiently urge Me.
And woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised -

33:61 - 62, Qur'an
[For they will be] accursed wherever they are found, [being] seized and massacred completely.
[This is the established] way of God with those who passed on before; and you will not find any change in the way of God.

[Sirach 5:7], Torah
[So] make no delay to turn to the Lord, and do not put [it] off from day to day; for suddenly the wrath of the Lord will come forth, and you will be destroyed in your security, and perish in the Day of Vengeance.

The Established Way of God for those We had Sent Before you of Our Messengers

There has Already been an Excellent Pattern for you in them for Anyone whose Hope is in God and the Last Day

The Established Way of God for those We had Sent Before you of Our Messengers, you will Not Find Any Alteration in Our Way:

1.  God sent a messenger from themselves to warn them of their destruction just as He destroyed the former peoples
2.  Those who disbelieved denied and ridiculed their messenger
3.  Every nation intended to seize, kill, or evict their messenger
4.  The messenger and those who believed were saved by God, and the criminals were destroyed
5. Then God brought forth a generation of others after them and sent His messengers in succession, until He made you successors in the land

1.  God Sent a Messenger from themselves to Warn them of their Destruction, just as God Destroyed the Former Peoples

16:36, Qur'an
We certainly raised a messenger in every nation, [saying], "Serve God and avoid false gods."  And among them were those whom God guided, and among them were those whom error was [deservedly] decreed upon.  So proceed through the earth and observe how the end was for the deniers -

53:50 - 54, Qur'an
[For] He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad
and Thamud - and He did not spare [them] -and the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. And He hurled down the overturned towns and covered them by that which He covered.

15:78 - 79, Qur'an
And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.
So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.

28:59, Qur'an
[But] your Lord would have never destroyed the cities until He had sent a messenger to their mother [city] reciting Our verses to them.  And We would not destroy the cities except while their people were wrongdoers -

39:56, Qur'an
Unless a soul should say, "Oh [how great is] my regret over what I neglected in regard to God and that I was among the mockers."

7:173 - 174, Qur'an
Or [unless] you should say, "It was only that our fathers associated [others] with God before, and we were only descendants after them.  Then would You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done?"
And thus, We [explain] the verses [in detail], and perhaps they will return.

23:32, Qur'an
And [so] We sent a messenger among them from themselves, [saying], "Serve God; you have no god other than Him; then will you not fear [Him]?

20:48, Qur'an
Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies and turns away.

29:18, Qur'an
[But] if you [people] deny [the message] - nations before you have already denied. And there is no [duty] upon the messenger except clear notification."

14:4, Qur'an
[And thus,] We did not send any messenger except speaking in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and God sends whomever He wills astray [thereby] and guides whomever He wills.  And He is the Almighty, the Wise.

7:63, Qur'an
Then do you wonder that a reminder has come to you from your Lord through a man from among you, so that he may warn you and so that you may fear [God] so you might receive mercy?

6:48 - 49, Qur'an
[For] We do not send the messengers except as bringers of good news and warners. So whoever believes and reforms - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.
But those who deny Our verses - the punishment will touch them for their defiant disobedience.

2.  Those who Disbelieved Ridiculed the Messenger

15:10 - 13, Qur'an
We had certainly sent [messengers] before you among the sects of the former [peoples].
[But] no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.  Thus, We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.  They will not believe in it, while the precedent of the former [peoples] has already occurred -

2 Chronicles 36:16, Torah
[For] they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and misused His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till [there was] no remedy.

36:30, Qur'an
[So] how regretful for the servants. No messenger came to them except that they used to ridicule him -

36:15, Qur'an
[For] they said, "You are nothing but human beings like us, and the Most Gracious has not sent down a thing. You are only telling lies."

25:5, Qur'an
And they say, "[These are just] legends of the former [peoples] which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon."

21:41, Qur'an
And [thus,] messengers were already ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

18:56, Qur'an
[For] We do not send the messengers except as warners and bringers of good news.  And those who disbelieve dispute by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate the truth thereby and have taken My verses, and that of which they are warned, in ridicule.

 3.  Every Nation Intended to Seize their Messenger

40:5, Qur'an
The people of Noah denied before them and the factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by falsehood to refute the truth thereby.  So I seized them, and how was My penalty -

14:13, Qur'an
[For] those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our religion."  So their Lord inspired to them, "We will surely destroy the wrongdoers" -

35:43, Qur'an
[Due to their] arrogance in the land and plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompass [anyone] except its own people. Then do they await [nothing] except the way of the former [peoples]? But you will never find any change in the way of God, and you will never find any alteration in the way of God.

86:15 - 16, Qur'an
[So] indeed, they are [also] planning a plan,
but I am planning a plan. So allow time for the disbelievers.  Leave them awhile.

17:76 - 77, Qur'an
[For] indeed, they were about to scare you from the land to evict you therefrom.  And then when they do, they will not remain there after you, except for a little.
[That is Our established] way for those We had sent before you of Our messengers; and you will not find any alteration in Our way -

16:26, Qur'an
[For] those before them had already plotted, but God came at their building from the foundations, so the roof fell upon them from above them, and the punishment came to them from where they did not perceive.

4.  The Messenger and those who Believed were Saved by God, and the Wrongdoers were Destroyed

27:50 - 51, Qur'an
And [thus, the disbelievers] planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they did not perceive.
Then look at how the outcome of their plan was - that We destroyed them and their people, all.

Psalms 37:38 - 40, Torah
[For] the transgressors will be destroyed together, the end of the wicked will be cut off.
But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the Lord, [He is] their strength in the time of trouble.  And the Lord will help them, and deliver them, He will deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him.

2 Peter 2:5 - 7, Gospel
And [thus, God] did not spare the old world, but saved Noah, the eighth [generation], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned [them] with an overthrow, making [them] an example to those who after should live ungodly; and [God] delivered the just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked.

30:47, Qur'an
And [so] We have already sent messengers before you to their peoples, and they came to them with clear evidences; then We took retribution from those who committed crimes, and support of the believers was truly upon Us.

18:55, Qur'an
And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness from their Lord except that the precedent of the former [peoples must] befall them or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.

5. Then God Brought Forth a Generation of Others After them and Sent His Messengers in Succession, until He Made you Successors in the Land

6:6, Qur'an
[So] have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established upon the earth as We have not established you? And We sent [water from] the heaven upon them in showers and made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins and brought forth a generation of others after them.

23:44, Qur'an
Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time a messenger came to his nation, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe.

25:38, Qur'an
And [so We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud and the companions of the well and many generations between them.

Jeremiah 44:6, Torah
[And] My fury and My anger were poured forth and were kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted [and] desolate, as at this day.

21:11, Qur'an
[So] how many cities have We shattered which were unjust and produced another people after them?

10:14, Qur'an
Then We made you successors in the land after them so that We may observe how you will do.

11:120, Qur'an
[So] each story We relate to you from the news of the messengers is that by which We make your heart firm.  And the truth and instruction and a reminder for the believers have come to you in this -

60:6, Qur'an
[For] there has certainly been an excellent pattern for you in [Abraham and those with him] for anyone whose hope is in God and the Last Day.  And whoever turns away - then indeed, God is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.

Noah Warned Before the Flood

 1.  Noah Warned his People

53:52, Qur'an
[Has he not been informed that it is God who destroyed] the people of Noah before?  Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing -

Genesis 6:11 - 13, Torah
[For] the earth was also corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted His way upon the earth.  And God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth."

11:25 - 26, Qur'an
And [thus] We had certainly sent Noah to his people, saying, "Indeed, I am a clear warner to you,
that you do not serve [anything] except God.  Indeed, I fear the punishment for you on a painful day.

71:3 - 4, Qur'an
[So] serve God, fear Him and obey me.
He will forgive your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, when the term [set by] God comes, it will not be delayed, if you only knew.

71:10, Qur'an
[So] ask forgiveness from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Perpetual Forgiver -

[Book of Jasher 5:8], Torah
For the Lord thus says, 'Behold, I give you a period of one hundred and twenty years; if you will turn to Me and forsake your evil ways, then I will also turn away from the evil which I told you, and it will not exist,' the Lord says.'"

[Book of Jasher 5:10], Torah
But the sons of men would not listen to [Noah and his father], nor incline their ears to their words, and they were stiffnecked.

2.  Noah was Ridiculed

11:27, Qur'an
[For] the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "We do not see you [as anything] except as a man like ourselves, and we do not see you followed by [anyone] except those who are the lowest of us [and] immature in opinion. And we do not see any merit in you over us; rather, we think you are liars."

26:111, Qur'an
[And] they said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"

71:5 - 8, Qur'an
[So Noah] said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to You] night and day.
But my invitation did not increase them in [anything] except flight.  And indeed, every time I invited them so that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with great arrogance.  Then I invited them publicly."

23:27, Qur'an
So We inspired to him, "Construct the ark under Our eyes, and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows, put two mates from each into the ark and your family, except for those whom the word [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned."

11:38 - 39, Qur'an
And [so] he constructed the ark, and whenever an assembly of the eminent of his people passed by him, they ridiculed him. He said, "If you ridicule us, then we will ridicule you just as you ridicule.
And you are going to know who will get a punishment that will disgrace him [on earth] and upon whom an enduring punishment will descend [in the Hereafter]."

3.  Noah was Threatened to be Stoned

26:116, Qur'an
[So] they said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be among those who are stoned."

26:117, Qur'an
He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.

71:22 - 24, Qur'an
And they conspired an immense conspiracy.
And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.'  And they have already misled many.  And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers in [anything] except error.

26:117, Qur'an
[And] judge between me and them with decisive judgement, and save me and those of the believers with me."

4.  Noah was Saved, his People were Destroyed

[Book of Jasher 6:1], Torah
[So] the Lord said to Noah at that time, after the death of [his father] Methuselah, "Go with your household into the ark; behold, I will gather all the animals of the earth to you, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and they will all come and surround the ark."

[Book of Jasher 6:3], Torah
And [so] the Lord brought this about on the next day, and animals, beasts and fowls came in great multitudes and surrounded the ark.

[Book of Jasher 6:11], Torah
And on that day, the Lord caused the whole earth to shake, and the sun darkened, and the foundations of the world raged, and the whole earth was moved violently, and the lightning flashed, and the thunder roared, and all the fountains in the earth were broken up, such as was not known to the inhabitants before; and God did this mighty act in order to terrify the sons of men, so that there might no longer be evil upon earth.

[Book of Jasher 6:12], Torah
[But] still the sons of men would not return from their evil ways, and they increased the anger of the Lord at that time, and did not even direct their hearts to all this.

54:11 - 12, Qur'an
[So] We opened the gates of the heaven with water pouring down
and caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined.

[Book of Jasher 6:18], Torah
And they [then] called to Noah, saying, "Open for us, so that we may come to you in the ark, and why will we die?"

[Book of Jasher 6:19 - 20], Torah
And Noah, with a loud voice, answered them from the ark, saying, "Have you not all rebelled against the Lord, and said that He does not exist? And therefore the Lord brought this evil upon you, to destroy and cut you off from the face of the earth.
Is this not the thing that I spoke to you one hundred and twenty years back, and you would not listen to the voice of the Lord, and now you desire to live upon earth?"

[Book of Jasher 6:21], Torah
[But] they said to Noah, "We are ready to return to the Lord; only open for us so that we may live and not die."

40:84 - 85, Qur'an
And [thus,] when they saw Our punishment, they said, "We believe in God alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate [with Him]."
But their faith never benefited them once they saw Our punishment. [It is the established] way of God which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost -

25:37, Qur'an
[For] the people of Noah - when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them a sign for mankind -

69:12, Qur'an
So that We might make it a reminder for you and [so that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it.

54:13 - 17, Qur'an
[For] We carried him on a construction of slabs and nails,
sailing under Our eyes as a reward for he who had been denied.  And We left it as a sign, so are there any who will remember?  And how severe were My punishment and warning. And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so are there any who will remember?

Hud Warned 'Aad

1.  Hud Warned his People

46:21, Qur'an
And remember the brother of 'Aad, when [Hud] warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not serve [anything] except God.  Indeed, I fear the punishment for you on a terrible day.

26:126 - 131, Qur'an
So fear God and obey me.
And I do not ask you for any payment for it. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. Do you construct a sign on every elevation, amusing yourselves, and take fortresses for yourselves so that you might abide eternally? And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. So fear God and obey me.

7:68 - 69, Qur'an
[For] I convey the messages of my Lord to you, and I am a trustworthy adviser to you.
Then do you wonder that a reminder has come to you from your Lord through a man from among you, so that he may warn you?  And remember when He made you successors after the people of Noah and increased you in creation extensively.  So remember the favors of God so that you might succeed.

11:52, Qur'an
And O my people, ask forgiveness from your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [water from] the heaven upon you in showers and increase you in strength [added] to your strength. And do not turn away, [being] criminals."

2.  Hud was Ridiculed

41:15, Qur'an
[But] as for 'Aad, they were arrogant upon the earth without truth and said, "Who is mightier than us in strength?"  Did they not consider that God who created them was mightier than them in strength?  But they were rejecting Our signs -

26:136 - 138, Qur'an
[For] they said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not among the advisors.
This is nothing but the custom of the former [peoples], and we are not to be punished."

7:66, Qur'an
[And] the eminent who disbelieved among his people said, "Indeed, we see you in foolishness, and indeed, we think you are among the liars."

7:67, Qur'an
[Hud] said, "O my people, there is no foolishness in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds."

11:53, Qur'an
[But] they said, "O Hud, you have not brought us clear evidence, and we are not ones to leave our gods on your say-so.  Nor are we believers in you."

3.  Hud was Threatened to be Driven out of the Land

14:11 - 12, Qur'an
[So] their messengers said to them, "We are only men like you, but God confers favor upon whomever He wills of His servants.  It has never been for us to bring you an authority except by permission of God.  And let the believers trust in God.
And why should we not trust in God while He has guided us to our [good] ways?  And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you should cause us.  And let those who would trust [indeed] trust in God."

14:13 - 15, Qur'an
[But] those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our religion."  So their Lord inspired to them, "We will surely destroy the wrongdoers.
And We will surely cause you to dwell in the land after them.  That is for he who fears My position and fears My threat."  And they requested victory [from God], and [therefore], every obstinate tyrant was disappointed.

11:59, Qur'an
And [so] that was 'Aad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant.

4.  Hud was Saved, 'Aad was Destroyed

7:70, Qur'an
They said, "Have you come to us so that we should leave what our fathers have served and serve God alone?  Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be among the truthful."

46:24 - 25, Qur'an
[But] when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!"  Rather, it is that which you were impatient for: a wind, within it [is] a painful punishment,
destroying everything by command of its Lord.  And they became so that nothing was seen [of them] except their dwellings.  Thus, We recompense the criminal people.

7:72, Qur'an
[But] We saved [Hud] and those with him by mercy from Us.  And We eliminated those who denied Our signs, and they were not believers.

11:60, Qur'an
And they were [therefore] followed in this world with a curse and [as well] on the Day of Resurrection.  Unquestionably, 'Aad denied their Lord; then away with 'Aad, the people of Hud.

Salih Warned Thamud

1.  Salih Warned his People

54:23, Qur'an
Thamud denied the warning -

26:142 - 145, Qur'an
When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?
Indeed, I am a trustworthy messenger to you. So fear God and obey me. And I do not ask you for any payment for it. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

7:74, Qur'an
And remember when He made you successors after 'Aad and settled you in the land, [and] you take palaces for yourselves from its plains and carve homes from the mountains.  Then remember the favors of God and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.

26:151 - 152, Qur'an
And do not obey the order of the transgressors,
who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."

2.  Salih was Ridiculed

26:153 - 154, Qur'an
They said, "You are only among those affected by magic.
You are nothing but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be among the truthful."

27:47, Qur'an
[And] they said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." [Salih] said, "Your omen is with God. Rather, you are a people being tested."

54:24 - 25, Qur'an
[But] Thamud said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow?  Indeed, we would then be in error and madness.
Has the message been sent down upon him from among us?  Rather, he is an insolent liar."

7:75, Qur'an
[And] the eminent who were arrogant among his people said to those who were oppressed - to those who believed among them, "Do you [actually] know that Salih is sent from his Lord?"  They said, "Indeed we are believers in that which he was sent with."

7:76, Qur'an
Those who were arrogant said, "Indeed we are disbelievers in that which you have believed."

3.  Salih was Threatened to be Killed

27:48 - 50, Qur'an
And there were nine family heads in the city causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs].
They said, "Take a mutual oath by God that we will kill [Salih] by night, him and his family.  Then we will say to his protector, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.'" And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they did not perceive.

4.  Salih was Saved, Thamud was Destroyed

26:155 - 156, Qur'an
[So Salih] said, "This is a she-camel.  There is a drink for her, and there is a drink for you, [each] on a known day.
And do not touch her with harm, unless you should be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."

7:77 - 78, Qur'an
So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be among the messengers."
So the earthquake seized them, and they became [corpses] fallen prone within their homes.

27:51 - 53, Qur'an
Then look at how the outcome of their plan was - that We destroyed them and their people, all.
So those are their houses, in ruins because of the wrong they had done.  Indeed there is a sign in that for people who know.  [But] We saved those who believed and used to fear [God] -

11:66, Qur'an
[For] when Our command came, We saved Salih and those who believed with him by mercy from Us, and [saved them] from the disgrace of that day. Indeed, it is your Lord who is the Powerful, the Almighty.

Abraham Warned Haran

1.  Abraham Warned his Father and his People

Joshua 24:2, Torah
[Remember when] Joshua said to all the people, "Thus the Lord says, God of Israel, 'Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the river in old time, [even] Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor - and they served other gods.'"

[Book of Jubilees 12:2], Torah
[So remember when Abram] said [to his father], "What help and profit do we have from those idols which you serve, and before which you bow yourself? For there is no spirit in them, for they are dumb forms, and a misleading of the heart. Do not serve them;

[Book of Jubilees 12:3], Torah
[Rather,] serve the God of heaven, who causes the rain and the dew to descend on the earth, and does everything upon the earth, and has created everything by His word, and all life is from before His Face."

29:16 - 18, Qur'an
[And thus] We sent Abraham, [and] he said to his people, "Serve God and fear Him.  That is best for you, if you should know.
You only serve idols besides God, and you produce a falsehood.  Indeed, those you serve besides God do not possess provision for you.  So seek provision from God and serve Him and be grateful to Him.  You will be returned to Him.  And if you deny - nations before you have already denied.  And there is no [duty] upon the messenger except clear notification."

2.  Abraham was Ridiculed

21:51, Qur'an
[So] We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were well-Knowing of him,

19:42 - 43, Qur'an
When he said to his father, "O my father, why do you serve that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all?
O my father, indeed knowledge has come to me which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path."

[Gospel of Barnabas 26:9], Gospel
[But his] father was beside himself, hearing his son speak so; [and his] son went on, "Father, was the world without men for some time?" "Yes," the old man answered, "And why?" "Because," Abraham said, "I should like to know who made the first god." "Now go out of my house!" The old man said, "And leave me to make this god quickly, and speak no words to me; for when you are hungry, you desire bread and not words." Abraham said, "A fine god, truly, that you cut him as you will, and he does not defend himself!" Then the old man was angry, and said, "All the world says that it is a god, and you, mad fellow, say that it is not. By my gods, if you were a man I could kill you!" And having said this, he gave blows and kicks to Abraham, and chased him from the house."

3.  Abraham was Threatened to be Stoned and Burned

19:46, Qur'an
[And thus his father] said, "Do you have no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me for a prolonged time."

19:47, Qur'an
[Abraham] said, "Peace will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. Indeed, He is gracious to me.

21:57 - 58, Qur'an
[But] by God, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away."
So he made [their idols] into fragments, except a large one among them, so that they might return to it [and question].

21:59, Qur'an
They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is among the wrongdoers."

21:63 - 65, Qur'an
He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak."
So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers."  Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!"

21:66 - 67, Qur'an
He said, "Then do you serve [something] instead of God which does not benefit you at all or harm you?
Uff to you and to what you serve instead of God.  Then will you not use reason?

[Book of Jasher 11:58 - 59], Torah
Do you not know, or have you not heard, that this evil which you do, our ancestors sinned therein in the days of old, and the Eternal God brought the waters of the flood upon them and destroyed them all, and also destroyed the whole earth on their account? And will you and your people rise up now and do like this work, in order to bring down the anger of the Lord God of the [worlds], and to bring evil upon you and the whole earth?
Now therefore put away this evil deed which you do, and serve the God of the [worlds], as your soul is in His hands, and then it will be well with you."

21:68, Qur'an
They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act."

37:97, Qur'an
[So his people] said, "Construct a furnace for him and throw him into the 'Hellfire.'"

4.  Abraham was Saved, his People were Destroyed

29:24, Qur'an
[Thus,] there was no answer from [Abraham's] people except that they said, "Kill him or burn him," but God saved him from the fire. Indeed there are signs in that for a people who believe -

21:69, Qur'an
[For] God said, "O fire, be coolness and peace upon Abraham."

21:70, Qur'an
[And] so they intended harm for him, but We made them the greatest in loss.

Genesis 11:32 - 12:1, Torah
And [thus] the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.
Now the Lord had said to Abraham, "Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you."

Genesis 12:4, Torah
So Abraham departed, as the Lord had spoken to him; and Lot went with him, and Abraham [was] seventy five years old when he departed out of Haran -

21:71, Qur'an
[Whereby] We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds.

29:26, Qur'an
[For] Lot believed him.  [And Abraham] said, "Indeed, I will emigrate to [the service of] my Lord.  Indeed, He is the Almighty, the Wise."

Genesis 12:5, Torah
And [so] Abraham took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and they came into the land of Canaan.

Lot Warned Sodom

1.  Lot Warned his People

54:33, Qur'an
The people of Lot denied the warning -

Genesis 13:13, Torah
[For] the men of Sodom [were] wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly -

[Book of Jasher 19:8], Torah
[For] when a poor man came to their land, they would give him silver and gold, and cause a proclamation in the whole city not to give him a morsel of bread to eat, and if the stranger should remain there some days, and die from hunger, not having been able to obtain a morsel of bread, then at his death, all the people of the city would come and take their silver and gold which they had given to him.

[Book of Jasher 19:44], Torah
And the Lord was provoked at this and at all the works of the cities of Sodom, for they had abundance of food, and had tranquility amongst them, and still would not sustain the poor and the needy, and in those days, their evil doings and sins became great before the Lord.

Genesis 19:1, Torah
[So] two angels came to Sodom at evening; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom, and Lot, seeing [them], rose up to meet them; and he prostrated with his face toward the ground.

29:34, Qur'an
[They said,] "Indeed, we will bring punishment down from the heaven on the people of this city because they have been defiantly disobedient."

26:161 - 162, Qur'an
[So] their brother Lot said to [his people], "Will you not fear [God]?
Indeed, I am a trustworthy messenger to you -

26:164, Qur'an
[For] I do not ask you for any payment for it. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

26:163, Qur'an
So fear God and obey me.

29:29, Qur'an
Indeed, you approach men and cut off the road and commit evil in your meetings." [But] there was no answer among his people except that they said, "Bring us the punishment of God, if you should be among the truthful."

15:66, Qur'an
[So] We conveyed [the decree] of that matter to him - that the roots of those [sinners] would be cut off by [early] morning.

2.  Lot was Ridiculed

Genesis 19:4 - 5, Torah
But before they laid down [that night], the men of the city, [even] the men of Sodom, encompassed the house, both old and young, all the people from every quarter.
And they called to Lot, and said to him, "Where [are] the men who came in to you this night?  Bring them out to us, so that we may know them."

15:68 - 69, Qur'an
Lot said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.
And fear God and do not disgrace me."

15:70, Qur'an
They said, "Did we not forbid you from the world?"

3.  Lot was Threatened to be Evicted

Genesis 19:6 - 7, Torah
[Then] Lot went out at the door to them, and shut the door after him,
and said, "Please brethren, do not do so wickedly."

26:167, Qur'an
[But] they said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be among those evicted."

Genesis 19:9, Torah
And they said, "Stand back."  And they said [again], "This one [fellow] came in to sojourn, and he needs to be a judge, now we will deal worse with you, than with them."  And they pressed sore upon the man, [even] Lot, and came near to break the door.

Genesis 19:10 - 11, Torah
But the men [the angels] put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.
And they struck the men [of Sodom] who [were] at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

4.  Lot was Saved, Sodom was Destroyed

54:36 - 38, Qur'an
[Thus] Lot had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning.
And they had sought to seduce his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning."  And an abiding punishment came upon them by early morning -

Genesis 19:23 - 25, Torah
[And so] when the sun had risen upon the earth, Lot entered into Zoar.
Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens; and He overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

2 Peter 2:6, Gospel
[So] turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, [God] condemned [them] with an overthrow, making [them] an example to those after who should live ungodly -

[2 Ezra 2:8 - 9], Torah
"[For] remember what I did to Sodom and Gomorrah, you wicked people;
whose land lies in clods of pitch and heaps of ashes; even so will I also do to those who do not hear Me," the Almighty Lord says.

7:83, Qur'an
[But] We saved [Lot] and his family, except for his wife; she was among those who remained [with the evildoers].

Luke 17:32, Gospel
[So] remember Lot's wife -

Genesis 19:26, Torah
[For] his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

29:35, Qur'an
And We have certainly left it as a sign of clear evidence for a people who use reason.

Shu'ayb Warned Midian

1.  Shu'ayb Warned his People

29:36, Qur'an
And We sent their brother Shu'ayb to Midian, and he said, "O my people, serve God and expect the Last Day and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.

7:86 - 87, Qur'an
And do not sit on every path, threatening and averting those from the way of God who believe in Him, seeking to make it [seem] deviant.  And remember when you were few and He increased you.  And look at how the end was for the corrupters.
And if there should be a group among you who has believed in that which I have been sent with and a group that has not believed, then be patient until God judges between us.  And He is the best of judges."

7:90, Qur'an
[But] the eminent who disbelieved among his people said, "If you should follow Shu'ayb, indeed, you would then be in loss."

2.  Shu'ayb was Ridiculed

26:177 - 180, Qur'an
[So] Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?
Indeed, I am a trustworthy messenger to you. So fear God and obey me. And I do not ask you for any payment for it.  My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds."

26:185 - 187, Qur'an
[But] they said, "You are only among those affected by magic.
You are nothing but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. So cause fragments of the heaven to fall upon us, if you should be among the truthful."

11:89 - 90, Qur'an
[So] Shu'ayb said, "O my people, do not let my dissension cause you to sin, unless you should be struck by that similar to what struck the people of Noah or the people of Hud or the people of Salih.  And the people of Lot are not far away from you.
And ask forgiveness from your Lord and then repent to Him.  Indeed, my Lord is Merciful and Affectionate."

3.  Shu'ayb was Threatened to be Evicted

11:91, Qur'an
They said, "O Shu'ayb, we do not understand much of what you say, and indeed, we consider you as weak among us.  And if not for your family, we would have stoned you; and you are not powerful against us."

11:92, Qur'an
He said, "O my people, is my family more respected for power by you than God? But you put Him behind your backs. Indeed, my Lord is Encompassing of what you do.

11:85 - 86, Qur'an
[So] O my people, give full measure and weight in justice and do not deprive the people of their due and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.
What remains from God is best for you if you are believers. But I am not a guardian over you."

11:87, Qur'an
They said, "O Shu'ayb, does your prayer command you that we should leave what our fathers serve or not do what we please with our wealth?  Indeed, you are surely 'forbearing, right-minded!'"

11:88, Qur'an
He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord and He has provided me with a good provision from Him...?  And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have forbidden you; I only intend reform as much as I am able.  And my success is not [possible] except through God.  I trust in Him, and I turn to Him."

7:88, Qur'an
[So] the eminent who were arrogant among his people said, "We will surely evict you, O Shu'ayb, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion."  He said, "Even if we were unwilling?"

4.  Shu'ayb was Saved, Midian was Destroyed

11:94 - 95, Qur'an
[So] when Our command came, We saved Shu'ayb and those who believed with him by mercy from Us.  And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became [corpses] fallen prone within their homes
as if they had never prospered therein.  Then, away with Midian as Thamud was taken away.

7:92 - 93, Qur'an
[And thus,] those who denied Shu'ayb - it was as though they had never prospered there.  Those who denied Shu'ayb - it was they who were in loss.
And he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I had certainly conveyed the messages of my Lord to you and advised you, so how could I grieve for a disbelieving people?"

Moses Warned Pharaoh

1.  Moses Warned his People

54:41, Qur'an
And warning certainly came to the people of Pharaoh -

7:103, Qur'an
[When] We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment after them, but they were unjust toward them.  So look at how the end was for the corrupters -

Exodus 3:9 - 10, Torah
[When God said,] "Now therefore, behold, the cry of the Children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression whereby the Egyptians oppress them.
Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring forth My people, the Children of Israel out of Egypt.

20:44, Qur'an
And speak to him with gentle speech so that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [God].

20:47 - 48, Qur'an
So go to him and say, 'Indeed, we are messengers of your Lord, so send the Children of Israel with us and do not torment them.  We have come with a sign to you from your Lord.  And peace will be upon he who follows the guidance.
Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies and turns away.'"

10:83, Qur'an
[But] no one believed Moses, except some youths among his people, for fear of Pharaoh and his establishment that they would persecute them. And indeed, Pharaoh was haughty within the land, and indeed, he was among the transgressors.

2.  Moses was Ridiculed

43:46 - 47, Qur'an
[So] We certainly sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."
But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.

26:23 - 24, Qur'an
Pharaoh said, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."

26:25 - 29, Qur'an
[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."  [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is possessed [by devils of jinn]."  [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."  [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."

43:51 - 54, Qur'an
[So] Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, "O my people, does the kingdom of Egypt not [belong] to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see?
Or am I not better than this one who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear?  Then why have bracelets of gold not been placed upon him or angels come with him in conjunction?"  So he persuaded his people to make light [of Moses], and they obeyed him.  Indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient of God.

7:130 - 131, Qur'an
[So] We certainly seized the people of Pharaoh with years of famine and a deficiency in fruits so that perhaps they would be reminded.
But when good came to them, they said, "This is ours [by right]." And if a bad [condition] struck them, they saw an evil omen in Moses and those with him. Unquestionably, their fortune is with God, but most of them do not know.

7:132 - 133, Qur'an
And they said, "No matter what sign you bring us with which to bewitch us, we will not be believers in you."
So We sent the flood upon them, and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people.

20:63, Qur'an
[For] they said, "Indeed, these are two magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and do away with your most exemplary way."

3.  Moses was Threatened to be Killed

40:26, Qur'an
[So] Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord.  Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land."

40:28 - 29, Qur'an
[But] a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said, "Do you kill a man [merely] because he says, 'My Lord is God' while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord?  And if he should be lying, then his lie [will be] upon himself; but if he should be truthful, some of what he promises you will strike you.  Indeed, God does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar.
O my people, the kingdom is yours today, [you are] dominant in the land.  But who would protect us from the punishment of God if it came to us?"  Pharaoh said, "I do not show you [anything] except what I see, and I do not guide you [anywhere] except to the way of right conduct."

40:30 - 31, Qur'an
And he who believed said, "O my people, indeed I fear [a fate] for you like the day of the companies -
like the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them.  And God wants no injustice for [His] servants."

7:123 - 124, Qur'an
[But] Pharaoh said, "You believed in him before I gave you permission. Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel its people therefrom.  But you are going to know.
I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all."

26:53 - 56, Qur'an
[So] Pharaoh sent gatherers amongst the cities
and said, "Indeed, those are only a small band, and indeed, they are enraging us, and indeed, we are a cautious society..."

7:127, Qur'an
And the eminent among the people of Pharaoh said, "Will you leave Moses and his people to cause corruption in the land and abandon you and your gods?" [Pharaoh] said, "We will kill their sons and keep their women alive; and indeed, we are subjugators over them."

7:128, Qur'an
[So] Moses said to his people, "Seek help through God and be patient. Indeed, the earth [belongs] to God. He causes whomever He wills of His servants to inherit it. And the [best] outcome is for those who fear [God]."

4.  Moses was Saved, Pharaoh was Destroyed

20:77, Qur'an
[So] We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike a dry path through the sea for them; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]."

10:90 - 92, Qur'an
[So] We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no god except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am among those in submission [to God]."
Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and were among the corrupters? So today We will save you in body [through mummification], so that you may be a sign to those who succeed you. And indeed, many among the people are heedless of Our signs -

Psalms 106:7 - 8, Torah
[For] our fathers did not understand Your wonders in Egypt; they did not remember the multitude of Your mercies; but provoked [Him] at the sea, [even] at the Red Sea.
Nevertheless He saved them for His name's sake, so that He might make His mighty power to be known -

Psalms 106:9 - 11, Torah
[For] He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up, so He led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
And He saved them from the hand of him who hated [them], and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. And the waters covered their enemies; not one of them was left.

40:45, Qur'an
So God saved [Moses] from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment -

43:55, Qur'an
[For] when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all.

44:25 - 27, Qur'an
And how many gardens and springs did they leave behind,
and [also] noble sites [of pyramids] and crops and comfort wherein they were amused?

43:56, Qur'an
[Thus,] We made them a precedent and an example for the later [peoples].

We have Certainly Given you Seven of the Often Repeated [Narrations] and the Great Qur'an

We Sent Our Messengers - Noah [1], Hud [2], Salih [3], Abraham [4], Lot [5], Shu'ayb [6], and Moses [7] - then Made them [Seven Often Repeated] Narrations

7:101, Qur'an
Those cities - We relate some of their news to you.  And their messengers certainly came to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in that which they had denied before.  Thus, God seals over the hearts of the disbelievers.

23:42 - 44, Qur'an
Then We produced other generations after them.
No nation will precede its term, nor will they delay it.  Then We sent Our messengers in succession.  Every time a messenger came to his nation, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations.  So away with a people who do not believe.

11:120, Qur'an
[So] each story We relate to you from the news of the messengers is that by which We make your heart firm.  And the truth and an instruction and a reminder for the believers have come to you in this -

15:87, Qur'an
[For] We have certainly given you seven of the often repeated [narrations] and the great Qur'an.

22:42 - 44, Qur'an
[But] if they deny you [O Muhammad], - so did the people of Noah [1] and 'Aad [2] and Thamud [3] deny [their prophets] before them,
and the people of Abraham [4] and the people of Lot [5] and the companions of Midian [6].  And Moses [7] was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

26:103 - 106, Qur'an
[So] indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful. The people of Noah [1] denied the messengers, when their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:121 - 124, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful.  'Aad [2] denied the messengers, when their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:139 - 142, Qur'an
[But] they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful.  Thamud [3] denied the messengers, when their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:67 - 70, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful.  And recite the news of Abraham [4] to them, when he said to his father and his people, "What do you serve?"

26:158 - 161, Qur'an
[But they denied him, so] the punishment seized them. Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful. The people of Lot [5] denied the messengers, when their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:174 - 177, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful.  The companions of the thicket [6] denied the messengers, when Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:8 - 11, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful.  And when your Lord called Moses [7], [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - the people of Pharaoh.  Will they not fear [God]?"

26:190 - 191, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers.
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful.

39:23, Qur'an
[Thus,] God has sent down the best narration: a consistent Book and often repeated.  The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver therefrom; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of God.  That is the guidance of God by which He guides whomever He wills.  And one whom God leaves astray - there is no guide for him -

12:111, Qur'an
[For] there was certainly a lesson in their stories for those of understanding. The Qur'an was never an invented narration, but a guidance and mercy for a people who believe and a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things.

Jeremiah and the Prophets Warned Jerusalem

1.  Jeremiah Warned his People

Jeremiah 7:25 - 28, Torah
"Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt to this day I have even sent all My servants to you, the prophets, rising up early and sending [them] daily.
Yet they did not listen to Me, nor incline their ear, but they hardened their neck, they did worse than their fathers.  Therefore you will speak all these words to them; but they will not hear you, you will also call to them; but they will not answer you.  But you will say to them, 'This [is] a nation that does not obey the voice of the Lord their God, nor receives correction, truth has perished, and is cut off from their mouth.'

Jeremiah 23:14, Torah
I have also seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem, they commit adultery, and they walk in lies, they also strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that none return from their wickedness, all of them are as Sodom to Me, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah."

Hosea 4:1, Torah
[Thus] hear the word of the Lord, you Children of Israel, for the Lord has contention with the inhabitants of the land, because [there is] no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

Isaiah 59:3 - 4, Torah
For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perverseness.
None call for justice, nor [do any] plead for truth, they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

Jeremiah 35:15, Torah
"[So] I have sent all My servants to you, the prophets, saying, 'Return now, every man from his evil way, and amend your actions, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you must dwell in the land which I have given to you and your fathers,' but you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to Me.

Jeremiah 18:11, Torah
Now therefore go [O Jeremiah], speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, 'Thus the Lord says; 'Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you, return now, everyone from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.

Jeremiah 7:5 - 7, Torah
For if you amend your ways and your doings; if you execute judgement between a man and his neighbor;
[if] you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt.  Then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever.

Deuteronomy 11:14 - 15, Torah
[And] I will give [you] the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, so that you may gather in your corn, and your wine, and your oil.
And I will send grass in your fields for your cattle, so that you may eat and be full.

Deuteronomy 28:15, Torah
[But] it will come to pass, if you will not hear the voice of the Lord your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command you this day; that all these curses will come upon you, and overtake you -

Deuteronomy 11:17
[For] the Lord's wrath [will be] kindled against you, and He [will] shut up the heaven, so that there is no rain, and so that the land does not yield her fruit; and you [will] perish quickly from off the good land which the Lord gives you.

Deuteronomy 28:49 - 52, Torah
[For] the Lord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, [as swift] as the eagle flies; a nation whose tongue you will not understand;
a nation of fierce countenance, which will not regard the person of the old, nor show favor to the young. And he will eat the fruit of your cattle, and the fruit of your land, until you are destroyed, which [also] will not leave you [either] corn, wine, or oil, [or] the increase of your young cows, or flocks of your sheep, until he has destroyed you. And he will besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fenced walls come down, wherein you trusted, throughout all your land, and he will besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which the Lord your God has given you.

Deuteronomy 28:48, Torah
[And] you will serve your enemies which the Lord will send against you, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all [things], and He will put a yoke of iron upon your neck, until He has destroyed you.'

Ezekiel 5:14 - 15, Torah
Moreover I will make you waste, and a reproach among the nations that [are] around you, in the sight of all who pass by.
So it will be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment to the nations that [are] around you, when I will execute judgements in you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes.  I the Lord have spoken [it]."

2.  Jeremiah was Ridiculed

2 Chronicles 36:15 - 16, Torah
[So] the Lord God of their fathers sent His messengers to them, rising up early, and sending; because He had compassion on His people, and on His dwelling place.
But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and misused His prophets -

Jeremiah 18:18, Torah
[For] they said, "Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law will not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet.  Come, and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words."

Jeremiah 20:7 - 8, Torah
[So Jeremiah said,] "O Lord, You have deceived me, and I was deceived, You are stronger than I, and have prevailed, I am in derision daily, everyone mocks me.
For since I spoke, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the Lord was made a reproach to me, and a derision, daily."

Jeremiah 11:9 - 10, Torah
[So] the Lord said to me, "[O Jeremiah,] a conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear My words; and they went after other gods to serve them, the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers.

Jeremiah 9:3 - 6, Torah
[For] they bend their tongues [like] their bow [for] lies, but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know Me," the Lord says.
"Take heed, everyone of his neighbor, and do not trust in any brother, for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with slanders.  And everyone will deceive his neighbor, and will not speak the truth, they have taught their tongue to speak lies, [and] weary themselves to commit iniquity.  Your habitation [is] in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know Me," the Lord says.

Jeremiah 6:13, Torah
"For from the least of them even to the greatest of them, everyone [is] given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.

Jeremiah 10:11, Torah
Thus you will say to them, 'The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, [even] they will perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.

Jeremiah 51:18, Torah
[For] they [are] vanity, the work of errors, they will perish in the time of their visitation.

Jeremiah 7:8 - 9, Torah
[For] behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit.
Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know?

Jeremiah 2:28, Torah
[Then] where [are] your gods that you have made?  Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble, for your gods are [according to] the number of your cities, O Judah.

Jeremiah 26:6, Torah
[And thus] I will make this House like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.'"

3.  Jeremiah was Threatened to be Killed

Jeremiah 26:7 - 9, Torah
So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the House of the Lord.
Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded [him] to speak to all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, "You will surely die.  Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying, 'This House will be like Shiloh, and this city will be desolate without an inhabitant?'"  And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the House of the Lord.

Jeremiah 26:11, Torah
Then the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and to all the people, saying, "This man is worthy to die; for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears."

Jeremiah 38:4, Torah
Therefore the princes said to the king, "We beseech you, let this man be put to death, for he thus weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them, for this man does not seek the welfare of this people, but the hurt."

Jeremiah 11:19, Torah
[And thus] I [was] like a lamb [or] an ox [that] is brought to the slaughter; and I did not know that they had devised devices against me, [saying], "Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name may no longer be remembered."

Ezekiel 9:9, Torah
Then He said to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah [is] exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness, for they say, 'The Lord has forsaken the earth, and the Lord does not see.'"

Lamentations 3:60 - 62, Torah
"[But] You have seen all their vengeance [and] all their imaginations against me.
You have heard their reproach, O Lord, [and] all their imaginations against me; the lips of those who rose up against me, and their device against me all the day."

[Sirach 49:7], Torah
For they entreated [Jeremiah] evil, who nevertheless was a prophet, sanctified in his mother's womb, so that He might root out, and afflict, and destroy; and so that He might build up also, and plant.

Jeremiah 18:23, Torah
[So Jeremiah said,] "Yet, Lord, You know all their counsel against me to slay [me], do not forgive their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from Your sight, but let them be overthrown before You; deal [thus] with them in the time of Your anger."

Jeremiah 11:11 - 12, Torah
Therefore the Lord thus says, "Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they will not be able to escape; and though they will cry to Me, I will not hear them.
Then the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem will go, and cry to the gods to whom they offer incense, but they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble."

4.  Jeremiah was Saved, Jerusalem was Destroyed

Jeremiah 25:2 - 3, Torah
[So] Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,
"From the thirteenth year of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, that [is] the twenty third year, the word of the Lord has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking; but you have not listened."

Jeremiah 35:17, Torah
Therefore the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel says, "Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, but they have not heard; and I have called to them, but they have not answered."

Jeremiah 25:8, Torah
[And] thus the Lord of hosts says; "Because you have not heard My words -

Psalms 37:38 - 40, Torah
The transgressors will be destroyed together, the end of the wicked will be cut off.
But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the Lord, [He is] their strength in the time of trouble.  And the Lord will help them, and deliver them, He will deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him.

Jeremiah 21:8 - 9, Torah
And [so] you will say to this people, 'Thus the Lord says; 'Behold, I set the way of life before you, and the way of death.
He who abides in this city will die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence, but he who goes out, and falls to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he will live, and his life will be to him for a prey.

Jeremiah 25:9, Torah
[For] behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,' the Lord says, 'And Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.'"

17:5, Qur'an
So when the [time of] promise came for the first of them [in Jerusalem], We sent servants of Ours against you - those of great military might, and they probed [even] into the homes, and it was a fulfilled promise -

Jeremiah 39:1, Torah
[For] in the ninth year of Zedekiah, king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar came, king of Babylon, [My servant,] and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

2 Kings 25:9 - 10, Torah
And he burnt the House of the Lord, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and he burnt every great [man's] house with fire.
And the entire army of the Chaldees that [was with] the captain of the guard broke down the walls of Jerusalem round about.

[Sirach 49:5 - 6], Torah
Therefore He gave their power to others, and their glory to a strange nation.
They burnt the chosen city of the sanctuary, and made the streets desolate, according to the prophecy of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 39:11 - 12, Torah
[But] Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, [My servant,] gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, saying,
"Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do to him even as he will say to you."

Jeremiah 15:11, Torah
[For] the Lord said, "Verily it will be well with your remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat you [well] in the time of evil and in the time of affliction."

Lamentations 1:8,Torah
[But] Jerusalem has grievously sinned; therefore she is removed, all who honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness, indeed, she sighs, and turns backward.

Jeremiah 44:2, Torah
Thus the Lord of hosts says, the God of Israel; "You have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and behold, they [are] a desolation this day, and no man dwells therein."

When the Seventy Years are Accomplished, God will Punish Babylon and that Nation, as When He Overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah

Edom will Also be a Desolation, and Bozrah, and All the Cities Thereof will be a Curse and Perpetual Wastes, they will Never be Inhabited from Generation to Generation

Jeremiah 49:13, Torah
"I have sworn by Myself," the Lord says, "That Bozrah will become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof will be perpetual wastes.

Jeremiah 49:17 - 18, Torah
Edom will also be a desolation, everyone who goes by it will be astonished, and will hiss at all the plagues thereof.
As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor [cities] thereof," the Lord says, "No man will abide there, neither will a son of man dwell in it.

Jeremiah 49:33, Torah
And Hazor will be a dwelling for dragons, [and] a desolation forever, no man will abide there, nor will [any] son of man dwell in it.

Jeremiah 25:11, Torah
[For] this whole land will be a desolation, [and] an astonishment; and these nations will serve the king of Babylon for seventy years.

Daniel 9:2, Torah
[And thus,] the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

Jeremiah 25:12, Torah
And it will come to pass, when the seventy years are accomplished, [that] I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation," the Lord says, "For their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations" -

Isaiah 13:19 - 20, Torah
[Whereby] Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
It will never be inhabited, neither will it be dwelt in from generation to generation, neither will the Arabian pitch tent there; neither will the shepherds make their fold there.

Jeremiah 50:13, Torah
[For] because of the wrath of the Lord, it will not be inhabited, but it will be wholly desolate, everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

Jeremiah 51:1, Torah
"[For] behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against those who dwell in the midst of those who rise up against Me, a destroying wind;

Jeremiah 50:9, Torah
[And] I will raise and cause an assembly of great nations from the north country to come up against Babylon, and they will set themselves in array against her; she will be taken from there, their arrows [will be] as of a mighty expert man; none will return in vain.

Jeremiah 51:58, Torah
[And] the broad walls of Babylon will be utterly broken, and her high gates will be burned with fire; and the people will labor in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they will be weary.

Jeremiah 51:44, Torah
And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth that which he has swallowed up out of his mouth, and the nations will no longer flow together to him, indeed, the wall of Babylon will fall.

Jeremiah 25:13, Torah
And [thus,] I will bring upon that land all My words which I have pronounced against it, [even] all that is written in this Book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.

Jeremiah 51:60, Torah
[For] Jeremiah wrote in a Book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, [even] all these words that are written against Babylon.

Jeremiah 51:63 - 64, Torah
And it will be, when you have made an end of reading this Book, [that] you will bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates.
And you will say, 'Thus Babylon will sink, and will not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her, and they will be weary.'" Thus far [are] the words of Jeremiah.

Revelation 18:21, Gospel
And [thus,] a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast [it] into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence will that great city Babylon be thrown down, and will not be found any more at all."

Jeremiah 51:37, Torah
[For] Babylon will become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and a hissing, without an inhabitant.

Revelation 18:2 - 3, Gospel
And [so] he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, "Babylon the great has fallen, has fallen, and has become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich through the abundance of her delicacies."

Jeremiah 51:7 - 8, Torah
[For] Babylon [has been] a golden cup in the Lord's hand, that made all the earth drunk, the nations have drunk of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed, howl for her; take balm for her pain, if she may so be healed.

Jesus and his Disciples Warned the Lost Sheep of Israel

1.  Jesus and his Disciples Warned their People

43:59, Qur'an
Jesus was nothing but a servant [of God, and the Messiah] whom We bestowed favor upon, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel -

Matthew 4:17, Gospel
[Whereby] Jesus began to preach, and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens is at hand."

Mark 3:14, Gospel
And he ordained twelve, so that they should be with him, and so that he might send them forth to preach.

Matthew 10:5 - 7, Gospel
[So] Jesus sent forth these twelve, and commanded them, saying, "Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter into any city of the Samaritans,
but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.  And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of the heavens is at hand.'

Mark 6:11, Gospel
And whoever will not receive you, nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them.  Verily I say to you, 'It will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the Day of Judgement, than for that city.'"

Luke 8:1, Gospel
And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the good news of the kingdom of God, and the twelve were with him.

2.  Jesus and his Disciples were Ridiculed

43:57, Qur'an
[But] when the son of Mary was set forth as an example, immediately your people turned away.

43:58, Qur'an
They said, "Are our gods better, or is he?" They did not set forth the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.

Luke 16:14, Gospel
And [when] the Pharisees, who were covetous, also heard all these things, they derided him.

Luke 23:2, Gospel
And they began to accuse him, saying, "We found this [fellow] perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is the Messiah, a king."

Acts 6:14, Gospel
[And they said,] "We have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered us."

John 7:12, Gospel
And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him, for some said, "He is a good man."  Others said, "No; but he deceives the people."

John 10:20, Gospel
And many of them said, "[Jesus] has a devil, and is mad; why do you hear him?"

Matthew 5:11 - 12, Gospel
[So Jesus opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,] "You are blessed when [men] will revile you, and persecute [you], and will say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for your reward [is] great in the heavens, for they so persecuted the prophets who were before you."

3.  Jesus and his Disciples were Hated and Threatened

John 15:19, Gospel
[Jesus said,] "If you were of the world, the world would love his own, but I have chosen you out of the world, and because you are not of the world, the world hates you.

Matthew 10:16 - 18, Gospel
[So] behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, be therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

Luke 21:16 - 17, Gospel
And you will be betrayed both by parents, and brothers, and kinsfolk, and friends; and they will cause [some] of you to be put to death.
And you will be hated of all for my name's sake.

John 16:2 - 3, Gospel
[And] they will put you out of the synagogues, [for] the time comes, that whoever kills you will think that he does God a service.
And they will do these things to you because they have not known [God] the [Creator], nor me.

John 15:20 - 21, Gospel
[For] remember the word that I said to you, 'The servant is not greater than his lord.'  If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
But they will do all these things to you for my name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent me.

Luke 21:18 - 19, Gospel
But a hair of your head will not perish.
In your patience, possess your souls.

Matthew 10:23, Gospel
[So] when they persecute you in this city, flee into another, for verily I say to you, 'You will not have gone over the cities of Israel, until the Son of man has come.'

Luke 21:20, Gospel
[Then] when you will see Jerusalem encompassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is near.

Luke 21:31 - 32, Gospel
[So] when you see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is near at hand.
Verily I say to you, 'This generation will not pass away, until all is fulfilled -

Luke 17:26 - 27, Gospel
[For] as it was in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of man.
They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.'

[Gospel of Barnabas 189:4], Gospel
[So] woe, therefore, to this faithless generation, for the blood of every prophet and righteous man will come upon them, with the blood of Zechariah, son of Berachiah, whom they slew between the temple and the altar! What prophet have they not persecuted? What righteous man have they allowed to die a natural death? Scarcely one! And now they seek to slay me. They boast themselves to be children of Abraham, and to possess the beautiful temple. As God lives, they are children of Satan, and therefore they do his will; therefore the temple, with the holy city, will go to ruin, in so much that one stone of the temple will not remain upon another."

Jesus and his Disciples Warned the Lost Sheep of Israel

4.  Jerusalem was Trodden Down by the Gentiles through God, but whoever will Call on the Lord will be Saved

The Romans sieged Jerusalem and destroyed the Second Temple in 70 AD.  Titus reportedly said that the victory did not come through his own efforts but that he had merely served as an instrument of God's wrath. - Flavius Josephus

Luke 21:7, Gospel
And [so] they asked [Jesus], saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign [will there be] when these things will come to pass?"

Luke 21:5 - 6, Gospel
And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with good stones and gifts, [Jesus] said,
"[As for] these things which you behold, the days will come, in which there will not be one stone left upon another that will not be thrown down."

Luke 19:41 - 44, Gospel
[And] when Jesus had come near, he beheld the city Jerusalem, and wept over it,
saying, "If you had known, even you, at least in this day of yours, the things belonging to your peace!  But now they are hidden from your eyes.  For the days will come upon you, that your enemies will cast a trench about you, and encompass you around, and keep you in on every side, and will lay you even with the ground, and your children within you; and they will not leave one stone upon another in you; because you did not know the time of your visitation."

Isaiah 10:3 - 4, Torah
And what will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation [which] will come from afar?  To whom will you flee for help?  And where will you leave your glory?
Without Me they will bow down under the prisoners, and they will fall under the slain.  For all this, His anger is not turned away, but His hand [is] stretched out still.

*Luke 23:28 - 30, Gospel
[So] Jesus, turning to them, said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
For behold, the days are coming, in the which they will say, 'Blessed [are] the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the paps which never gave suck.'  Then they will begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall on us;' and to the hills, 'Cover us.'

*Hosea 10:8, Torah
[For] the high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed, the thorn and the thistle will come up on their altars; and they will say to the mountains, 'Cover us;' and to the hills, 'Fall on us.'

Luke 21:21 - 23, Gospel
Then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let those who are in the midst of it depart out; and do not let those who are in the countries enter therein.
For these are the days of vengeance, so that all things which are written may be fulfilled.  But woe to those who are with child, and to those who give suck in those days!  For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people."

Matthew 24:1 - 2, Gospel
[So] Jesus went out, and departed from the temple, and his disciples came to [him] to show him the buildings of the temple.
And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things?  Verily I say to you, 'There will not be one stone left here upon another that will not be thrown down.'"

17:7, Qur'an
[So] when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the temple [in Jerusalem], as [Our servant Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon,] entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with total destruction.

[Epistle of Barnabas 16:5], Gospel
[Thus] it was revealed how the city and the temple and the people of Israel should be betrayed.  For the Scripture says; "And it will be in the last days, that the Lord will deliver up the sheep of the pasture and the fold and the tower thereof to destruction."  And it came to pass as the Lord spoke.

Acts 3:22 - 24, Gospel
For Moses truly said to the fathers, "The Lord your God will raise up a prophet to you from your brothers, like me; you will hear him in all things whatsoever he will say to you.
And it will come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, will be destroyed from among the people."  Indeed, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who follow after, as many who have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

Jude 1:5, Gospel
[And so] I will therefore put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, how the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

2 Peter 2:5 - 6, Gospel
[And God] did not spare the old world, but saved Noah, the eighth [generation], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example to those after that should live ungodly -

Luke 17:29 - 30, Gospel
[Whereby] the same day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed [them] all.
Even thus will it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed -

Luke 21:24, Gospel
And [thus] they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led away captive into all nations, and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles is fulfilled.

*Acts 2:21, Gospel
[But] it will come to pass, [that] whoever will call on the name of the Lord [God] will be saved.

Acts 2:16, Gospel
[For] this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel -

*Joel 2:32, Torah
It will come to pass, [that] whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be delivered, for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem will be deliverance, as the Lord has said, and in the remnant whom the Lord will call.

Jesus Spoke to them by Parables, "What will the Lord of the Vineyard Do? For He Sent a Servant to the Husbandmen, but they Beat him." He will Come and Destroy those Wicked Men

For He will Lift up an Ensign to the Gentiles from Afar and will Lay it Waste, for the Vineyard of the Lord is the House of Israel - and Thus, Jerusalem will be Trodden down by the Gentiles

Isaiah 5

Isaiah 5:1 - 2, Torah
Now I will sing to my wellbeloved, a song of my beloved touching His vineyard. My wellbeloved has a vineyard in a very fruitful hill.
And He fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein, and He looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

Mark 12:1, Gospel
And [so Jesus] began to speak to them by parables, "A [certain] man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about [it], and dug [a place for] the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

Luke 20:10 - 12, Gospel
And at the season, He sent a servant to the husbandmen, so that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard, but the husbandmen beat him, and sent [him] away empty.
And again He sent another servant, and they beat him also, and entreated [him] shamefully, and sent [him] away empty. And again He sent a third, and they wounded him also, and cast [him] out.

Matthew 21:40, Gospel
When the Lord of the vineyard therefore comes, what will He do to those husbandmen?"

Matthew 21:41, Gospel
They say to him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out [his] vineyard to other husbandmen, who will render him the fruits in their seasons."

Isaiah 5:3 - 5, Torah
[So] now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, please judge between Me and My vineyard.
What could have been done more to My vineyard, that I have not done in it?  Therefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes?  And now go; I will tell you what I will do to My vineyard, I will take away the hedge thereof, and it will be eaten up; [and] break down the wall thereof, and it will be trodden down."

Luke 21:24, Gospel
And [thus] they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led away captive into all nations, and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles is fulfilled -

Isaiah 5:26, Torah
[For] He will lift up an ensign to the Gentiles from afar, and will hiss to them from the end of the earth, and behold, they will come swiftly with speed.

Isaiah 5:28, Torah
Whose arrows [are] sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs will be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind.

Isaiah 5:6 - 7, Torah
And I will lay it waste, it will not be pruned, nor dug; but briers and thorns will come up, I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts [is] the house of Israel, and the men of Judah His pleasant plant, and He looked for judgement, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

Isaiah 5:9, Torah
"[And thus,] in My ears," the Lord of hosts [says], "Of a truth many houses will be desolate, [even] great and fair, without inhabitant.

Isaiah 5:11 - 13, Torah
[So] woe to those who rise up early in the morning, [so that] they may follow strong drink; who continue until night, [until] wine inflames them!
And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts, but they do not regard the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of His hands.  Therefore My people have gone into captivity, because [they have] no knowledge, and their honorable men [are] famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst."

Isaiah 5:24, Torah
Therefore as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, [so] their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom will go up as dust, because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah 5:25, Torah
Therefore the anger of the Lord is kindled against His people, and He has stretched forth His hand against them, and Has struck them, and the hills trembled, and their carcasses [were] torn in the midst of the streets.  For all this, His anger is not turned away, but His hand [is] stretched out still.

Every Nation Intended to Seize their Messenger, but We will Save Our Messengers and those who have Believed

So Never Think that God will Fail in His Promise to His Messengers, for God Saved Noah, Delivered Lot, and Saved Abraham from the Fire

30:47, Qur'an
We have already sent messengers before you to their peoples, and they came to them with clear evidences; then We took retribution from those who committed crimes, and support of the believers was truly upon Us -

14:13, Qur'an
[For] those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our religion." So their Lord inspired to them, "We will surely destroy the wrongdoers -

29:24, Qur'an
[For] there was no answer from [Abraham's] people except that they said, "Kill him or burn him," but God saved him from the fire.  Indeed there are signs in that for a people who believe.

26:116, Qur'an
[And] they said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be among those who are stoned."

2 Peter 2:5, Gospel
[So God] did not spare the old world, but saved Noah, the eighth [generation], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

27:56, Qur'an
[And] there was no answer from [Lot's] people except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city.  Indeed, they are men who keep themselves pure."

2 Peter 2:7, Gospel
[So God] delivered the just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked.

27:49, Qur'an
[And] they said, "Take a mutual oath by God that we will kill [Salih] by night, him and his family.  Then we will say to his protector, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.'"

11:66, Qur'an
So when Our command came, We saved Salih and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us, and [saved them] from the disgrace of that day. Indeed, it is your Lord who is the Powerful, the Almighty.

7:88, Qur'an
[And] the eminent who were arrogant among [Shu'ayb's] people said, "We will surely evict you, O Shu'ayb, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion."  He said, "Even if we were unwilling?"

11:94, Qur'an
[So] when Our command came, We saved Shu'ayb and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us. And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became [corpses] fallen prone within their homes.

40:26, Qur'an
And Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord.  Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land."

Psalms 106:10, Torah
[So] He saved [Moses and our fathers] from the hand of him who hated [them], and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

Jeremiah 26:8, Torah
[And] when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded [him] to speak to all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, "You will surely die."

Jeremiah 39:11 - 12, Torah
[But] Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, saying,
"Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do to him even as he will say to you."

Mark 15:13, Gospel
And they cried out again, "Crucify [Jesus]."

4:157, Qur'an
[So We cursed them] for their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of God."  And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them.  And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it.  They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption.  And they did not kill him, for certain -

10:103, Qur'an
[For] We will save Our messengers and those who have believed. Thus, it is an obligation upon Us that We save the believers.

37:171 - 172, Qur'an
[For] Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,
[that] indeed, they would be those given help -

40:5, Qur'an
[For] the people of Noah denied before them and the factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by falsehood [to attempt] to refute the truth thereby.  So I seized them, and how was My penalty.

Psalms 37:38 - 40, Torah
[Thus] the transgressors will be destroyed together, the end of the wicked will be cut off.
But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the Lord, [He is] their strength in the time of trouble.  And the Lord will help them, and deliver them, He will deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him.

14:47, Qur'an
So never think that God will fail in His promise to His messengers. Indeed, God is Almighty and Owner of Retribution.

Muhammad Warned Mecca and the Cities Around it

1.  Muhammad Warned his People by the Qur'an over a Prolonged Period [in the Revealed Order]

33:21, Qur'an
There has certainly been an excellent pattern for you in the messenger of God for anyone whose hope is in the Last Day and God, and who remembers God often -

53:56, Qur'an
[For] this [prophet] is a warner like the former warners.

73:15 - 16, Qur'an
[For] indeed, We have sent a messenger to you as a witness upon you just as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh.
But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.

46:9, Qur'an
[So] say, "I am not something original among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you.  I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am nothing but a clear warner."

42:7, Qur'an
And thus We have revealed an Arabic Qur'an to you so that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it,

35:24 - 26, Qur'an
[So] indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a warner and a bringer of good news.  And there was no nation except that a warner had passed within it.
And if they deny you, then those before them have already denied.  Their messengers came to them with clear proofs and Scriptures and with the enlightening Book.  Then I seized the ones who disbelieved, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

34:46, Qur'an
[So] say, "I only advise you of one thing - that you stand for God, seeking truth in pairs and individually, and then give thought."  There is no [devil of] jinn in your companion. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment.

22:42 - 44, Qur'an
[But] if they deny you [O Muhammad], - so, before them, did the people of Noah and 'Aad and Thamud deny,
and the people of Abraham and the people of Lot and the companions of Midian.  And Moses was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

54:43 - 45, Qur'an
[Or] are your disbelievers better than those [former ones], or do you have immunity in the Scriptures?
Or do they say, "We are an assembly supporting [each other]"?  [Their] assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs [in retreat].

89:6 - 13, Qur'an
[Or] have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -
[with] Iram - who had lofty pillars, the likes of whom had never been created in the land?  And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?  And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? - [all of] whom oppressed within the lands and increased corruption therein.  So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment upon them.

25:40, Qur'an
And they have already come upon the town which was showered with a rain of evil.  So have they not seen it?

25:32, Qur'an
And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur'an not sent down to him all at once?"  Thus, it is so that We may strengthen your heart thereby.  And We have spaced it distinctly -

36:6 - 7, Qur'an
So that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware.
The word has already come true upon most of them, so they do not believe.

34:45, Qur'an
And those before them denied, and they have not attained a tenth of what We had given them.  But [the former peoples] denied My messengers, so how [terrible] was My reproach.

10:48 - 50, Qur'an
[So] they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"
[So] say, "I do not possess any harm or benefit for myself except what God should will. There is a [specified] term for every nation. When their time has come, then they will not postpone it an hour, nor will they advance [it]." [And] say, "Have you considered if His punishment should come to you by night or by day - for which [aspect] of it would the criminals be impatient?"

10:102, Qur'an
[So] do they wait [nothing] except for like [what occurred in] the days of those who passed on before them?  Say, "Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait."

Muhammad Warned Mecca and the Cities Around it

2.  Muhammad was Ridiculed

38:3 - 4, Qur'an
How many generations have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape.
And they wonder that a warner has come to them from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar."

38:6 - 7, Qur'an
And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is an intended thing.
We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is nothing but a fabrication."

25:41 - 42, Qur'an
And when they see you, they do not take you in [anything] except ridicule, saying, "Is this the one whom God has sent as a messenger?
He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in serving them."  But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way.

25:7 - 8, Qur'an
And they say, "What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was an angel not sent down to him so he would be a warner with him?
Or, "Has a treasure been cast [down] to him [from heaven]?" Or, "Does he have a garden from which he eats?" And the wrongdoers say, "You do not follow [anyone] but a man affected by magic."

37:36 - 37, Qur'an
And they were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"
Rather, the prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the previous messengers.

25:5, Qur'an
[But] they say, "[They are] legends of the former [peoples] which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon."

32:3, Qur'an
Or do they say, "He invented it"?  Rather, it is the truth from your Lord, so that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you [so that] perhaps they will be guided.

28:48, Qur'an
But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?"  Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before?  They said, "[They are merely] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are disbelievers in both."

13:32, Qur'an
And [thus,] [other] messengers were already ridiculed before you, and I extended the time of those who disbelieved; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty.

21:6, Qur'an
[And] not a single city which We destroyed before them believed, so will they believe?

Muhammad Warned Mecca and the Cities Around it

3.  The Disbelievers Plotted to Kill or Evict them

8:30, Qur'an
[Remember] when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you.  But they plan, and God plans.  And God is the best of planners.

9:51, Qur'an
[So] say, "We will never be struck by [anything] except what God has decreed for us; He is our protector." And let the believers trust in God.

14:12, Qur'an
[So say,] "And why should we not trust in God while He has guided us to our [good] ways?  And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you should cause us. And let those who would trust [indeed] trust in God."

27:70, Qur'an
[So] do not grieve over them or be in distress from what they conspire -

17:76 - 77, Qur'an
[For] indeed, they were about to scare you from the land to evict you therefrom. And then when they do, they will not remain there after you, except for a little.
[That is Our established] way for those We had sent before you of Our messengers; and you will not find any alteration in Our way -

37:171 - 173, Qur'an
[For] Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,
[that] indeed, they would be those given help and [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome.

37:174 - 176, Qur'an
So turn away from them for a time.
And see [what will befall] them, for soon they are going to see.  Then are they impatient for Our punishment?

32:28 - 29, Qur'an
[For] they say, "When will this conquest be, if you should be truthful?"
Say, "On the Day of Conquest, the belief of those who had disbelieved will not benefit them, nor will they be reprieved."

37:177 - 179, Qur'an
[And thus,] when it descends in their territory, then the dawn of those who were warned will [indeed] be evil.
And turn away from them for a time.  And see, for soon they are going to see.

Muhammad Warned Mecca and the Cities Around it

4.  Muhammad was Saved by God through the Angels

33:21 - 22, Qur'an
There has certainly been an excellent pattern for you in the messenger of God for anyone whose hope is in God and the Last Day and [who] remembers God often.
[For] when the believers saw the companies, they said, "This is what God and His messenger had promised us, and God and His messenger spoke the truth."  And it increased them only in faith and submission [to God] -

3:173 - 174, Qur'an
Those to whom the people said, "Indeed, the people have certainly gathered against you, so fear them."  But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "God is sufficient for us, and [He is] Excellent [as] the Disposer of affairs."
So they returned with favor from God and bounty, no evil having touched them.  And they pursued the pleasure of God, and God is the possessor of great bounty.

33:9, Qur'an
[So] O you who have believed, remember the favor of God upon you when armies came to attack you and We sent a wind upon them and armies of angels you did not see -

8:48, Qur'an
When Satan made their deeds pleasing to them and said, "No one can overcome you today from among the people, and indeed, I am your protector."  But when the two armies sighted each other, he turned on his heels and said, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you.  Indeed, I see what you do not see; indeed I fear God. And God is severe in penalty" -

8:50 - 52, Qur'an
[For] if you could see when the angels take the souls of those who disbelieved...  They are striking their faces and their backs and [saying], "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire.
That is for what your hands have put forth [of evil] and because God is never unjust to His servants."  [Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and those before them.  They disbelieved in the signs of God, so God seized them for their sins.  Indeed, God is Powerful and severe in penalty -

9:26, Qur'an
[For] God sent His tranquility down upon His messenger and upon the believers and sent down armies [of angels] whom you did not see and punished those who disbelieved.  And that is the recompense of the disbelievers -

47:11, Qur'an
That is because God is the protector of those who have believed and because the disbelievers have no protector.

Psalms 35:1 - 3, Torah
[So] plead [my cause], O Lord, with those who strive with me, fight against those who fight against me.
Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help. Draw out the spear also, and stop [the way] against those who persecute me, say to my soul, "I [am] your salvation."

Psalms 35:5 - 6, Torah
Let them be as chaff before the wind, and let the angel of the Lord chase [them].
Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.

8:9 - 10, Qur'an
[So remember] when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another."
And God did not make it [occur] except as good news and so that your hearts would be assured thereby. And help is not from [anyone] but God. Indeed, God is Almighty and Wise.

33:25, Qur'an
[Thus] God repelled those who disbelieved in their rage, not having obtained any good.  And God was sufficient for the believers in battle, and God is Powerful and Almighty.

48:22 - 24, Qur'an
And if those who disbelieve had fought you, they would have turned their backs [in retreat]. Then they would not find a protector or a helper.
[This is the established] way of God which has occurred before. And you will never find any change in the way of God. And it is He who withheld their hands from you and your hands from them within [the area of] Mecca after He caused you to overcome them. And God is Seeing of what you do.

Muhammad Warned Mecca and the Cities Around it

4.  Mecca was Destroyed by God through Muhammad and the Angels

22:39 - 40, Qur'an
Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, God is Powerful to give them help.
[They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without truth - only because they say, "Our Lord is God." And were it not that God checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of God is much remembered. And God will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, God is Powerful and Almighty.

4:75, Qur'an
[So] what is [the matter] with you that you do not fight in the cause of God and [for] the oppressed among men, women, and children who say, "Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint a protector for us from Yourself and appoint a helper for us from Yourself?"

2:244, Qur'an
[So] fight in the cause of God and know that God is Hearing and Knowing -

8:18 - 19, Qur'an
And that God will weaken the plot of the disbelievers.
[And thus,] if you [disbelievers] seek the victory - the defeat has come to you. And if you desist [from hostilities], it is best for you; but if you return [to war], We will return, and you will never be availed by your [large] company at all, even if it should increase; and [that is] because God is with the believers.

8:38, Qur'an
[So] say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them.  But if they return [to hostility] - then the precedent of the former [peoples] has already taken place -

25:37 - 39, Qur'an
The people of Noah - when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them a sign for mankind.  And We have prepared a painful punishment for the wrongdoers.
And [We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud and the companions of the well and many generations between them.  And We set forth examples [as warnings] for each, and We destroyed each with [total] destruction.

33:61 - 62, Qur'an
[Thus they will be] accursed wherever they are found, being seized and massacred completely.
[This is the established] way of God with those who passed on before; and you will not find any change in the way of God.

2:190 - 191, Qur'an
[So] fight those in the way of God who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed, God does not love the transgressors.
And kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, and oppression is worse than killing.  And do not fight them at the Forbidden [House] until they fight you there.  But if they fight you, then kill them.  Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.

9:13 - 14, Qur'an
[Or] would you not fight a people who broke their oaths and determined to expel the messenger, and they had begun [the attack upon] you the first time?  Do you fear them?  But God has more right that you should fear Him, if you are [truly] believers.
[So] fight them; God will punish them by your hands and will disgrace them and help you against them -

Deuteronomy 28:7, Torah
[For] the Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before your face, they will come out against you one way, and flee before you seven ways.

Deuteronomy 30:7, Torah
And the Lord your God will put all these curses upon your enemies, and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.

Luke 1:70 - 75, Gospel
[Just] as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, who have been since the world began,
that we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us; to perform the mercy [promised] to our fathers, and to remember His holy covenant; the oath which He swore to our father Abraham, that He would grant to us, that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear [of our enemies], in holiness and righteousness before Him, all the days of our life.

Deuteronomy 9:3, Torah
[So] understand therefore this day, that the Lord your God [is] He who goes over before you; [as] a consuming fire He will destroy them, and He will bring them down before your face, so you will drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord has said to you.

Deuteronomy 33:27, Torah
[For] the eternal God [is your] refuge, and underneath [are] the everlasting arms, and He will thrust out the enemy from before you; and will say, 'Destroy [them].'

47:13, Qur'an
[So] how many cities were stronger than your city which drove you out? We destroyed them; and there was no helper for them.

8:54, Qur'an
[For they are] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and those before them. They denied the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh.  And all [of them] were wrongdoers.

50:36 - 37, Qur'an
And [so] how many generations did We destroy before them who were greater than them in striking power and had explored throughout the lands?  Is there any place of escape?
Indeed there is a reminder in that for whoever has a heart or who listens while he is present in mind.

Does it Not Guide them When they See How Many Cities God Destroyed, so they are Now Fallen into Ruin, and they Walk Among their Dwellings?

So Travel Through the Land and Observe How the End was for the Criminals, they were Not Availed at All by their gods When the Command of your Lord Came

28:58, Qur'an
How many cities have We destroyed that were insolent in its [way of] living? And those are their dwellings which have not been inhabited after them except briefly. And it is We who were the inheritors.

47:10, Qur'an
[So] have they not traveled through the land and seen how the end was for those before them? God destroyed [everything] over them, and there is something comparable for the disbelievers.

27:69, Qur'an
[So] say, "Travel through the land and observe how the end was for the criminals" -

46:27, Qur'an
[For] We have already destroyed what surrounds you of cities, and We have explained the signs so that perhaps they might return [from disbelief] -

29:38 - 39, Qur'an
[For We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud, and it has become clear to you from their [ruined] dwellings. And Satan had made their deeds pleasing to them and averted them from the path, and they were endowed with perception.
And [We destroyed] Korah and Pharaoh and Haman. And Moses had already come to them with clear evidences, and they were arrogant in the land, but they were not out-runners [of Our punishment] -

44:25 - 27, Qur'an
[For] how many gardens and springs did they leave behind?
And [also] crops and noble sites [of pyramids] and comfort wherein they were amused?

20:128, Qur'an
Then, does it not guide them [when they see] how many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings?  Indeed there are signs in that for those of intelligence -

15:76 - 77, Qur'an
[For] indeed, [Sodom is situated] on an established road.
Indeed there is a sign in that for the believers -

37:137 - 138, Qur'an
[For] indeed, you pass by them at dawn and at night.
Then will you not use reason?

15:78 - 79, Qur'an
And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.
So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [ruins] are on a clear highway.

22:45 - 46, Qur'an
[So] how many cities did We destroy while they were committing wrong - so they are [now] fallen into ruin - and [how many] abandoned wells and [how many] lofty palaces?
So have they not traveled through the earth and have hearts by which to reason and ears by which to hear?  For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but the hearts are blinded which are within the chests -

14:45, Qur'an
[For] you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them.  And We set forth [many] examples for you.

30:42, Qur'an
[So] say, "Travel through the land and observe how the end was for those before. Most of them were associators [of others with God]."

11:101 - 103, Qur'an
And We did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves. And they were not availed at all by their gods which they invoked other than God when the command of your Lord came. And they did not increase them in [anything] other than ruin.
And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe. Indeed there is a sign in that for those who fear the punishment of the Hereafter. That is a Day for which the people will be collected, and that is a Day [which will be] witnessed.

There is a Messenger for Every Nation, for there is No City Except that We will Destroy it

1.  Then do you Wonder that a Reminder has Come to you Through a Man from Among you, so that he may Warn you?

3:137, Qur'an
Similar situations [as yours] have certainly passed on before you, so proceed throughout the earth and observe how the end was for those who denied.

64:5 - 6, Qur'an
[Or] has the news of those who disbelieved before not come to you?  So they tasted the bad consequence of their affair, and they will have a painful punishment.
That is because their messengers used to come to them with clear evidences, but they said, "Should human beings guide us?" and disbelieved and turned away.  And God can do without [them]; and God is Free of need and Praiseworthy.

10:13 - 14, Qur'an
And [so] We had already destroyed generations before you when they wronged, and their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe. Thus, We recompense the criminal people.
Then We made you successors in the land after them so that We may observe how you will do -

17:58, Qur'an
[For] there is no city except that We will [either] destroy it or punish it with a severe punishment before the Day of Resurrection. That has been inscribed in the Book.

7:34, Qur'an
And [thus,] there is a [specified] term for every nation.  So when their time has come, they will not postpone it an hour, nor will they advance [it].

10:47, Qur'an
And there is a messenger for every nation.  So when their messenger comes, it will be judged between them in justice; and they will not be wronged.

7:63, Qur'an
Then do you wonder that a reminder has come to you from your Lord through a man from among you, so that he may warn you and so that you may fear [God] so you might receive mercy?

Matthew 24:14, Gospel
[For] the Gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations; and then the end will come.

16:82, Qur'an
But if they turn away, then there is only [the responsibility for] clear notification upon you -

2:256, Qur'an
[For there should be] no compulsion in acceptance of the religion.  The right course has become clear from the wrong.  So whoever disbelieves in false gods and believes in God has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it.  And God is Hearing and Knowing.

53:29 - 30, Qur'an
So turn away from whoever turns his back on Our reminder and does not desire [anything] except the worldly life.
That is their sum of knowledge.  Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of who is guided.

51:55, Qur'an
[But] remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.

There is a Messenger for Every Nation, for there is No City Except that We will Destroy it

2.  But the Mockers Say, "Legends of the Former Peoples," Just as Messengers were Already Ridiculed Before you

6:10, Qur'an
Messengers were already ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by that which they used to ridicule.

15:95, Qur'an
[So] indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers.

9:82, Qur'an
So let them laugh a little and [then] weep much as a recompense for what they used to earn.

83:29 - 32, Qur'an
[For] indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.
And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.  And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.  And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."

8:31, Qur'an
And when Our verses are recited to them, they say, "We have certainly heard. If we willed, we could say [something] like this. This is nothing but legends of the former [peoples]."

5:58, Qur'an
[And] when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement. That is because they are a people who do not use reason.

46:11, Qur'an
And those who disbelieve say of those who believe, "If it had [truly] been good, they would not have preceded us to it."  And when they are not guided by it, they will say, "This is an ancient falsehood."

31:6, Qur'an
And among the people is he who exchanges the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of God without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.

11:8, Qur'an
[But] if We hold back the punishment from them for a limited time, they will surely say, "What detains it?" Unquestionably, on the Day it comes to them, it will not be averted from them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

There is a Messenger for Every Nation, for there is No City Except that We will Destroy it

3.  There will be, in Every Place, a Great Insurrection upon those who Fear God, and they will Cast them Out of their Houses

8:49, Qur'an
[Remember] when the hypocrites and those who had disease in their hearts said, "Their religion has deluded them?"

3:118, Qur'an
Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, and what their hearts conceal is greater.  We have certainly made the signs clear to you, if you will use reason.

47:29 - 30, Qur'an
Or do those who have disease in their hearts think that God would never expose their feelings of hatred?
And if We willed, We could show them to you, and you would recognize them by their mark; but you will surely recognize them by the tone of their speech -

22:72, Qur'an
[For] when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, you recognize disapproval in the faces of those who disbelieve.  They are almost on the verge of assaulting those who recite Our verses to them.

2 Peter 2:2, Gospel
[For] many will follow their pernicious ways; by reason of which, the way of truth will be spoken evil of.

[2 Ezra 5:1 - 2], Torah
[For] behold, the days will come, that those who dwell upon earth will be taken in a great number, and the way of truth will be hidden, and the land will be barren of faith.
But iniquity will be increased above that which you now see, or that you have heard long ago.

Matthew 24:12, Gospel
And because iniquity will abound, the love of many will wax cold.

Matthew 24:10, Gospel
And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another.

Matthew 24:9, Gospel
Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted, and will kill you, and you will be hated of all nations for [God's] name's sake.

Psalms 69:7, Torah
Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face.

1 Timothy 4:10, Gospel
Therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all mankind, especially of those who believe.

[2 Ezra 16:70 - 73], Torah
[And thus] there will be, in every place, and in the next cities, a great insurrection upon those who fear God.
They will be like mad men, sparing none, but still spoiling and destroying those who fear God.  For they will waste and take away their goods, and cast them out of their houses.  Then they will be known, who are My chosen; and they will be tried as the gold in the fire -

2:214, Qur'an
Or do you think that you will enter the Garden while such [trial] has not yet come to you as it came to those who passed on before you?  They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even their] messenger and those who believed with him said, "When is the help of God?"  Unquestionably, the help of God is near -

Matthew 24:13, Gospel
[For] he who will endure to the end, the same will be saved.

Isaiah 66:5, Torah
[So] hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at His word; "Your brethren who hated you, who cast you out for My name's sake, said, 'Let the Lord be glorified,' but He will appear to your joy, and they will be ashamed."

21:38 - 40, Qur'an
[So] they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"
If those who disbelieved knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...  Rather, it will come to them suddenly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved.

1 Thessalonians 5:2 - 3, Gospel
For you yourselves perfectly know that the Day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
For when they will say, 'Peace and safety;' then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they will not escape.

[Sirach 5:7], Torah
[So] make no delay to turn to the Lord, and do not put off from day to day; for suddenly the wrath of the Lord will come forth, and you will be destroyed in your security, and perish in the Day of Vengeance.

47:18, Qur'an
Then do they await [nothing] except that the Hour should come upon them suddenly? But [some of] its indications have already come. Then what good will their remembrance be to them when it has come?

This is the Day of Judgement - did We Not Destroy the Former Peoples? Then We will Follow them with the Later Ones

4.  Thus those who Persecuted the Believers will have the Punishment of Hell, but We will Save Our Messengers and those who Believed

77:8 - 18, Qur'an
So when the stars are obliterated,
and when the heaven is opened, and when the mountains are blown away, and when the messengers' time has come...  For what Day was it postponed?  For the Day of [Judgement].  And what can make you know what the Day of [Judgement] is?  Woe, that Day, to the deniers.  Did We not destroy the former [peoples]?  Then We will follow them with the later ones.  Thus, We deal with the criminals -

[2 Ezra 11:42], Torah
For you [criminals] have afflicted the meek, you have hurt the peaceable, you have loved liars, and destroyed the dwellings of those who brought forth fruit, and have cast down the walls of such who did you no harm.

85:7 - 10, Qur'an
And they were witnesses to what they were doing against the believers.
And they did not resent them except because they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, to whom [belongs] the kingdom of the heavens and the earth.  And God is Witness over all things.  Indeed, those who have persecuted the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.

14:44 - 45, Qur'an
[So] warn the people of a Day when the punishment will come to them and those who did wrong will say, "Our Lord, delay us for a short term; we will answer Your call and follow the messengers." [But it will be said], "Had you not sworn before that there would be no end for you?
And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We set forth [many] examples for you."

10:102 - 103, Qur'an
So do they wait for [nothing] except like [what occurred in] the days of those who passed on before them? Say, "Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait."
Then We will save Our messengers and those who have believed. Thus, it is an obligation upon Us that We save the believers -

40:51, Qur'an
[For] indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand.

Isaiah 25:9, Torah
[And thus,] it will be said in that Day, "Behold, this [is] our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us, this [is] the Lord; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation."

39:71, Qur'an
[But] those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say, "Did messengers not come to you from yourselves, reciting the verses of your Lord to you and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "Yes," but the word of punishment has come true upon the disbelievers.

37:71 - 73, Qur'an
And [yet] most of the former [peoples] had already strayed before them,
and We had already sent warners among them.  Then look at how the end was for those who were warned -

40:82 - 85, Qur'an
[Or] have they not traveled through the land and observed how the end was for those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn.
And when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they merely rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule. And when they saw Our punishment, they said, "We believe in God alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate [with Him]." But their faith never benefited them once they saw Our punishment. [It is the established] way of God which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost.

40:77 - 78, Qur'an
So be patient, indeed, the promise of God is truth. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We take you in death, they will be returned to Us.
And We have already sent messengers before you.  Among them are those We have related to you, and among them are those We have not related to you.  And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign [or verse] except by permission of God.  So when the command of God comes, it will be concluded in truth, and the falsifiers will thereupon lose [all].
