Surah Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread) 5

Revealed 112th in the Qur'an

Read the Full Text in Modern English in the Chronological Order of Revelation with References to the Torah and the Gospel

5:1
O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts. The animals of grazing livestock are lawful for you except for that which is recited to you - hunting not being permitted while you are prohibited. Indeed, God judges what He intends.

5:2
O you who have believed, do not violate the symbols of God, or the forbidden month, or the sacrificial animals, or garlands, or those coming to the Forbidden House ^9:28, ^14:37 seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you are permitted, then [you may] hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from the Forbidden [House] ^9:28, ^14:37 lead you to transgress. And cooperate in righteousness and the fear [of God], but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear God; indeed, God is severe in penalty.

5:3
Dead [creatures] are prohibited to you, *Leviticus 22:8 and [also] blood, *Genesis 9:4, *Leviticus 7:26, *Leviticus 17:12, *Book of Jubilees 6:10, *Book of Jubilees 6:17 - 19, *Deuteronomy 12:23 the flesh of swine, *Leviticus 11:7 - 8*Deuteronomy 14:8 and that which has been dedicated to [something] other than God, *Exodus 34:15, *1 Corinthians 10:28 and [those animals] killed by strangling *Acts 15:20, *Acts 15:28 - 29, *Acts 21:25 or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those which a wild animal has eaten from, *Exodus 22:31, *Leviticus 22:8 except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars; and [it is prohibited] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day, those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so do not fear them, but fear Me. This day, I have perfected your religion for you and completed My favor upon you and have approved submission [to God] for you as religion. But whoever is forced by hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, God is Forgiving and Merciful.

5:4
They ask you what has been made lawful for them. Say, "[All] good things are lawful for you, and [also game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as God has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and remember [or mention] the name of God over it, and fear God." Indeed, God is swift in account.

5:5
This day, [all] good things have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And chaste women [are lawful in marriage] from among the believers and [also] chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers. And whoever denies the faith - his deeds have become worthless, and he will be among the ones in loss in the Hereafter.

5:6
O you who have believed, when you stand for prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are impure, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have touched women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe it over your faces and hands. God does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you so that you may be grateful.

5:7
And remember the favor of God upon you and His covenant which He bound you with when you said, "We hear and we obey;" ~*Exodus 24:7~*Joshua 24:24 - 25 and fear God. Indeed, God is Knowing of that within the hearts.

5:8
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for God, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to fearing [God]. And fear God; indeed, God is Aware of what you do.

5:9
God has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds [that] there is forgiveness and a great reward for them.

5:10
But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs - those are the companions of Hellfire.

5:11
O you who have believed, remember the favor of God upon you when a people determined to extend their hands [in aggression] against you, but He withheld their hands from you; and fear God. And let the believers trust in God.

5:12
And God had already taken a covenant from the Children of Israel, and We raised twelve leaders from among them. *Genesis 49:28, *1 Chronicles 2:1 - 2 And God said, "I am with you. If you establish prayer and give purifying [alms] and believe in My messengers and honor them and loan God a good loan, I will surely remove your misdeeds from you and admit you to Gardens in which rivers flow beneath them. But whoever among you disbelieves after that has certainly strayed from the even path."

5:13
So for their breaking of the covenant, We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort words from their [proper] usages and have forgotten a portion of that which they were reminded. And you will not cease to observe deceit amongst them, except a few of them. But pardon them and overlook. Indeed, God loves the doers of good.

5:14
And from those who say, "We are Christians," We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that which they were reminded. So We aroused animosity and hatred amongst them until the Day of Resurrection. And soon God is going to inform them about what they used to do.

5:15
O People of the Scripture, Our messenger has come to you making clear much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture, *2 Ezra 12:36 - 37, *2 Ezra 14:6, *2 Ezra 14:26 and he pardons much. A light and a clear Book have come to you from God.

5:16
By which God guides those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace and brings them out from darknesses into the light, *Luke 1:79 by His permission, and guides them to a straight path.

5:17
They have certainly disbelieved who say that God is Christ, the son of Mary. Say, "Then who could prevent God at all if He had intended to destroy Christ, the son of Mary, or his mother or everyone on the earth?" And the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them [belongs] to God. *Deuteronomy 10:14 He creates what He wills, and God is Powerful over all things.

5:18
But the Jews and the Christians say, "We are the children of God *Deuteronomy 14:1, *Psalms 82:6*Hosea 1:10*2 Ezra 6:58, *Romans 8:14 - 16*Galatians 3:26 and His beloved."  Say, "Then why does He punish you for your sins?"  Rather, you are human beings from among those He has created.  He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills.  And the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them [belongs] to God, *Deuteronomy 10:14 and the [final] destination is to Him.

5:19
O People of the Scripture, Our messenger has come to you to make [the religion] clear to you after a period [of suspension] of messengers, *John 16:7 unless you should say, "No bringer of good news or warner came to us."  But a bringer of good news and a warner has come to you.  And God is Powerful over all things.

5:20
And when Moses said to his people, "O my people, remember the favor of God upon you when He made prophets among you and made you kings and gave you that which He had not given anyone among the worlds.

5:21
O my people, enter the Holy Land which God has written for you and do not turn your backs [from fighting in God's cause] and [thereby] return in loss."

5:22
They said, "O Moses, indeed there is a people of tyrannical strength within it, *Numbers 13:30 - 31, *Deuteronomy 1:28 and indeed, we will never enter it until they leave it; but if they leave it, then we will enter."

5:23
Two men from those who feared [to disobey], upon whom God had bestowed favor said, "Enter upon them through the gate, for when you have entered it, you will be predominant. And trust in God, if you should be believers." *Numbers 14:6 - 9

5:24
They said, "O Moses, indeed we will not enter it ever, as long as they are within it; so go and fight, you and your Lord. Indeed, we are sitting right here."

5:25
[Moses] said, "My Lord, indeed I do not possess [anyone] except myself and my brother, so part us from the defiantly disobedient people."

5:26
[God] said, "Then indeed, it is forbidden to them [to enter the Holy Land] for forty years, [rather,] they will wander throughout the land. *Numbers 14:33, *Numbers 32:13 So do not grieve over the defiantly disobedient people."

5:27
And recite the story of Adam's two sons to them in truth, when they both offered a sacrifice [to God], and it was accepted from one of them but it was not accepted from the other. *Genesis 4:3 - 5, *Book of Jubilees 4:2 [Cain] said, "I will surely kill you." [Abel] said, "Indeed, God only accepts [it] from those who fear [Him].

5:28
If you should extend your hand against me to kill me - I will not stretch my hand against you to kill you. Indeed, I fear God, Lord of the worlds.

5:29
Indeed I want you to incur my sin and your sin so that you will be among the companions of the Fire. And that is the recompense of wrongdoers."

5:30
And his soul permitted the murder of his brother, so he killed him *Genesis 4:8, *Book of Enoch 85:4 and became among the ones in loss.

5:31
Then God raised a crow searching in the ground to show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother. He said, "O woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the body of my brother?" And he became among the regretful.

5:32
From that time, We wrote upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had killed mankind entirely. And whoever [saves] a life - it is as if he had [saved] the lives of mankind entirely. And Our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed, many of them were transgressors throughout the land [even] after that.

5:33
Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against God and His messenger and strive [to cause] corruption upon earth is none but that they should be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet should be cut off from opposite sides *2 Samuel 4:12 or that they should be exiled from the land. That is a disgrace for them in this world; and there is a great punishment for them in the Hereafter,

5:34
Except for those who return [repenting] before you apprehend them. And know that God is Forgiving and Merciful.

5:35
O you who have believed, fear God and seek the means [of nearness] to Him and strive in His way so that you may succeed.

5:36
Indeed, those who disbelieve - if they should have all that is in the earth and the like of it with it by which to ransom themselves from the punishment of the Day of Resurrection, it will not be accepted from them, and there [will be] a painful punishment for them *Book of Enoch 52:7, *Book of Enoch 63:10, *Book of Jubilees 5:23, *Job 36:18 - 19*Psalms 49:6 - 7, *Proverbs 11:4, *Zephaniah 1:18, *Ezekiel 7:19

5:37
They will wish to get out of the Fire, but they are never to emerge therefrom, and there is an enduring punishment for them.

5:38
[As for] the thief, the male and the female, cut off their hands in recompense for what they earned as a deterrent [punishment] from God. And God is Almighty and Wise.

5:39
But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and reforms, indeed, God will turn to him [in forgiveness]. Indeed, God is Forgiving and Merciful.

5:40
Do you not know that the kingdom of the heavens and the earth [belongs] to God? He punishes whom He wills and forgives whom He wills, and God is Powerful over all things.

5:41
O messenger, do not let those grieve you who hasten into disbelief among those who say, "We believe" with their mouths, but their hearts do not believe, and from among the Jews. [They are avid] listeners to lies, listening to another people who have not come to you. They distort words beyond their [proper] usages, saying "If you are given this, take it; but if you are not given it, then beware." But he whom God intends a trial for - you will never possess [power to do] a thing for him against God. Those are the ones whom God does not intend to purify their hearts. There is disgrace for them in this world, and there is a great punishment for them in the Hereafter.

5:42
[They are avid] listeners to lies, devourers of [what is] unlawful. So if they come to you, judge between them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them - they will never harm you at all. And if you judge, judge between them with justice. Indeed, God loves those who act justly.

5:43
But how is it that they come to you for judgement while they have the Torah, in which is the judgement of God? Then they turn away, [even] after that; but those are not [in fact] believers.

5:44
Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. The prophets who submitted [to God] judged by [the Torah] for the Jews, as the rabbis and scholars [judged] by that which they were entrusted of the Scripture of God, and they were witnesses thereto. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what God has sent down - then it is those who are the disbelievers.

5:45
And We prescribed for them therein - a life for a life, *Exodus 21:12, *Leviticus 24:21 an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and legal retribution for wounds. *Exodus 21:23 - 25, *Deuteronomy 19:21*Matthew 5:38 But whoever gives [up his right as] charity, it is an expiation for him. And whoever does not judge by what God has sent down - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

5:46
And We sent Jesus, the son of Mary, following in their footsteps, confirming that which was in his hands of the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, *Mark 1:1, *Mark 1:14, *Matthew 4:23, *Matthew 9:35, *Luke 4:18, *Luke 20:1 in which was guidance and light and confirming that which was in his hands of the Torah as guidance and instruction for those who fear [God].

5:47
And let the People of the Gospel judge by what God has sent down therein. And whoever does not judge by what God has sent down - then it is those who are the defiantly disobedient.

5:48
And We have sent the Book down to you in truth, confirming that which is between one's hands of the Scripture and as a Criterion over it. So judge between them by what God has sent down and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth. To each of you We made a law and a method. Had God willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good. Your return is to God all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning those [matters] in which you used to differ.

5:49
And judge between them by what God has sent down and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, unless they should tempt you away from some of what God has sent down to you. And if they turn away - then know that God only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient.

5:50
Then do they seek the judgement of ignorance? But who is better than God in judgement for a people who are certain [in faith]?

5:51
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are allies of one another. And whoever turns to them from among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, God does not guide the wrongdoing people. *Luke 22:3 - 4

5:52
So you see those who have disease in their hearts hastening into [association with] them, saying, "We are afraid a misfortune may strike us." But perhaps God will bring a conquest or a command from Him, and they will become regretful *Matthew 27:3 - 4 over what they have been concealing within themselves.

5:53
And those who believe will say, "Are these the ones who swore their strongest oaths by God that indeed they were with you?" Their deeds have become worthless, and they have become the ones in loss.

5:54
O you who have believed, whoever among you should revert from his religion - soon God will bring forth a people [in place of them] whom He will love and who will love Him, [who are] humble toward the believers, [powerful] in might against the disbelievers; they strive in the way of God and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of God; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And God is Encompassing and Knowing.

5:55
Your ally is only God and [therefore] His messenger and those who have believed - those who establish prayer and give purifying [alms], and those who bow [in prayer].

5:56
And whoever turns to God and His messenger and those who have believed - indeed, the party of God - they will be the predominant.

5:57
O you who have believed, do not take those who have taken your religion in ridicule and amusement among the ones who were given the Scripture before you nor the disbelievers as allies. And fear God, if you should [truly] be believers.

5:58
And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement. That is because they are a people who do not use reason.

5:59
Say, "O People of the Scripture, do you resent us [for anything] except that we have believed in God and what was sent down to us and what was sent down before and because most of you are defiantly disobedient?"

5:60
Say, "Should I inform you of [what is] worse than that as penalty from God? [The worst penalty is for] those whom God has cursed and with whom He became angry and made them apes ~*Book of Jasher 9:35 and [also] pigs and slaves of false gods. Those are worse in position and further astray from the even path."

5:61
And when they come to you, they say, "We believe." But they have certainly entered with disbelief [in their hearts], and they have certainly left with it. And God is most knowing of what they were concealing.

5:62
And you see many of them hastening into sin and aggression and the devouring of [what is] unlawful. What they have been doing is surely wretched.

5:63
Why do the rabbis and religious scholars not forbid them from saying what is sinful and devouring what is unlawful? What they have been practicing is surely wretched.

5:64
And the Jews say, "The hand of God is chained." *Isaiah 59:1 Their hands are chained, and they are cursed for what they say. Rather, both His hands are extended; He spends however He wills. And that which has been sent down to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. And We have cast animosity and hatred among them until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], God extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and God does not love the corrupters.

5:65
And if only the People of the Scripture had believed and feared [God], We would have surely removed their misdeeds from them and admitted them to Gardens of Pleasure.

5:66
And if only they upheld [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been sent down to them from their Lord, they would have consumed [provision] from above them and from beneath their feet. There is a moderate community among them, but what many of them do is evil.

5:67
O messenger, announce that which has been sent down to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And God will protect you from the people. Indeed, God does not guide the disbelieving people.

5:68
Say, "O People of the Scripture, you are [standing] on nothing until you uphold the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been sent down to you from your Lord." And that which has been sent down to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people.

5:69
Indeed, those who have believed and those who were Jews or Sabeans or Christians - those [among them] who believed in God and the Last Day and did righteousness - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

5:70
We had already taken the covenant of the Children of Israel and had sent messengers to them. Whenever a messenger came to [the Children of Israel] with what their souls did not desire, they denied a group, and they killed another group.

5:71
And they thought that there would be no trial, so they became blind and deaf. Then God turned to them [in forgiveness]; then [again] many of them became blind and deaf. And God is Seeing of what they do.

5:72
They have certainly disbelieved who say, "God is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, serve God, *Matthew 4:10*Luke 4:8 my Lord and your Lord." *Mark 12:29, *John 20:17 Indeed, he who associates others with God - God has certainly forbidden the Garden for him, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are no helpers for the wrongdoers.

5:73
They have certainly disbelieved who say, "God is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. *Deuteronomy 6:4, *Mark 12:29, *Mark 12:32, *James 2:19, *Shepherd of Hermas 26:1 And if they do not desist from what they are saying, a painful punishment will surely touch the disbelievers among them.

5:74
So will they not repent to God and seek His forgiveness? And God is Forgiving and Merciful.

5:75
The Messiah, son of Mary, was nothing but a messenger; [other] messengers have passed on before him. And his mother was truthful. They both used to eat food. Look how We make the signs clear to them; then look how they are deluded.

5:76
Say, "Do you serve [idols] besides God which do not possess harm or benefit for you while it is God who is the Hearing, the Knowing?"

5:77
Say, "O People of the Scripture, do not exceed limits in your religion beyond the truth and do not follow the inclinations of a people who had certainly gone astray before and misled many and have strayed from the even path."

5:78
Those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel were cursed by the tongue of David and Jesus, the son of Mary. *Matthew 23:13 - 16, *Matthew 23:23 - 33, *Luke 11:42 - 44, *Luke 11:46 - 47, *Luke 11:52 That was because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed.

5:79
They did not used to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did. What they were doing was surely wretched.

5:80
You see many of them turning to those who disbelieved [as allies]. What they have put forth for themselves is surely wretched in that God has become angry with them, and they will abide eternally in the punishment.

5:81
And if they had believed in God and the prophet and in what was sent down to him, they would not have taken them as allies; but many of them are defiantly disobedient.

5:82
You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others [with God]; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers [to be] those who say, "We are Christians." That is because priests and monks are among them and because they are not arrogant.

5:83
And when they hear what has been sent down to the messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, "Our Lord, we have believed, so write us among the witnesses.

5:84
And why should we not believe in God and what has come to us of the truth? And we aspire that our Lord will admit us [to Paradise] with the righteous people."

5:85
So God rewarded them for what they said with Gardens [in Paradise] in which rivers flow beneath them, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of doers of good.

5:86
But those who disbelieved and denied Our verses - they are the companions of Hellfire.

5:87
O you who have believed, do not prohibit the good things which God has made lawful to you and do not transgress. Indeed, God does not love the transgressors.

5:88
And eat of what God has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And fear God, in whom you are believers.

5:89
God will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [or afford it] - then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the expiation for oaths when you have sworn. But guard your oaths. Thus, God makes His verses clear to you so that you may be grateful.

5:90
O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone altars, and divining arrows are only abominations from the work of Satan, so avoid them so that you may be successful.

5:91
Satan only wants to cause animosity and hatred between you through intoxicants and gambling, and to avert you from the remembrance of God and from prayer. So will you not desist?

5:92
And obey God and obey the messenger and beware. And if you turn away - then know that there is only [the responsibility for] clear notification upon Our messenger.

5:93
There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteousness concerning what they have eaten [in the past] if they [now] fear [God] and believe and do righteous deeds, and then fear [God] and believe, and then fear [God] and do good; and God loves the doers of good.

5:94
O you who have believed, God will surely test you through something of the game that your hands and spears [can] reach, so that God may make those known who fear Him unseen. And whoever transgresses after that - there is a painful punishment for him.

5:95
O you who have believed, do not kill game while you are forbidden. And whoever of you kills it intentionally - the penalty is an equivalent of livestock to what he killed, as judged by two just persons among you as an offering [to God] delivered to the Ka'bah, or an expiation of the feeding of needy people or a ransom of that in fasting, so that he may taste the consequence of his affair. God has pardoned what is past; but whoever returns [to violation], then God will take retribution from him. And God is Almighty and Owner of Retribution.

5:96
Game from the sea is lawful to you and [also] its food as provision for you and the travelers, but game from the land is forbidden to you as long as you are forbidden. And fear God, to whom you will be gathered.

5:97
God has made the Ka'bah, the Forbidden House, ^9:28, ^14:37 standing for the people and [also] the forbidden months and the sacrificial animals and the garlands [by which they are identified]. That is so you may know that God knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth and that God is Knowing of all things.

5:98
Know that God is severe in penalty and that God is Forgiving and Merciful.

5:99
There is no [duty] upon the messenger except [the responsibility for] notification. And God knows whatever you disclose and whatever you conceal.

5:100
Say, "The evil and the good are not equal, although the abundance of evil might please you." So fear God, O you of understanding, so that you may be successful.

5:101
O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you. But if you ask about them while the Qur'an is being sent down, they will be shown to you. God has pardoned this; and God is Forgiving and Forbearing.

5:102
Indeed, a people asked such [questions] before you; then they became disbelievers thereby.

5:103
God has not appointed [such innovations as] bahirah or sa'ibah or wasilah or hami. But those who disbelieve invent lies about God, and most of them do not reason.

5:104
And when it is said to them, "Come to what God has sent down and to the messenger," they say, "That which we found our fathers upon is sufficient for us." Even though their fathers knew nothing, nor were they guided.

5:105
O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. Your return is to God all together; then He will inform you about what you used to do.

5:106
O you who have believed, testimony [should be taken] among you when death approaches one of you at the time [of making] the will - [the testimony of] two just men from among you or two others from outside if you are going forth through the land and the disaster of death should strike you. Detain them after the prayer and let them both swear by God if you doubt [their testimony, saying], "We will not exchange [our oath] for a price, even if he should be a near relative, and we will not conceal the testimony of God. Indeed, we would then be among the sinful."

5:107
But if it is found that those two were merited sin, let two others stand in their place [who are] foremost [in claim] from those who have merit. And let them swear by God, "Our testimony is truer than their testimony, and we have not transgressed. Indeed, we would then be among the wrongdoers."

5:108
That is more likely that they will give testimony according to its [true] objective, or [at least that] they would fear that their oaths might be refuted after [other] oaths. And fear God and listen; and God does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.

5:109
[Be warned of] the Day when God will assemble the messengers and say, "What was the response you received?" They will say, "We have no knowledge. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen."

5:110
[The Day] when God will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, remember My favor upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the Holy Spirit *Isaiah 42:1, *Matthew 12:18, *Luke 4:1, *Acts 10:38 and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and [remember] when I taught you the Book and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you created [a figure] from clay like the form of a bird with My permission, *Infancy Gospel of Thomas 2:3 then you breathed into it, and it became a bird with My permission; and you healed the blind *Matthew 9:27 - 30, *Matthew 20:30 - 34, *Mark 8:22 - 25, *Mark 10:51 - 52, *Luke 18:41 - 43, *John 9:6 - 7 and the leper with My permission; *Matthew 8:3*Mark 1:40 - 42, *Luke 5:12 - 13*Luke 17:12 - 14 and when you brought forth the dead with My permission; *Infancy Gospel of Thomas 9:4 - 5, *Infancy Gospel of Thomas 17:1 - 3, *Infancy Gospel of Thomas 18:1 - 2, *Matthew 9:24 - 25*Matthew 11:4 - 5, *Mark 5:39 - 42, *Luke 7:12 - 15, *Luke 8:52 - 55, *John 11:41 - 44, *John 12:1, *John 12:9, *John 12:17 and when I restrained the Children of Israel from [killing] you when you came to them with clear proofs and those who disbelieved among them said, 'This is nothing but clear magic.'

5:111
And [remember] when I inspired to the disciples, 'Believe in Me and in My messenger [Jesus].' They said, 'We have believed, so bear witness that indeed we are in submission [to God].'

5:112
[And remember] when the disciples said, 'O Jesus, Son of Mary, can your Lord send down a table to us from the heaven?' [Jesus] said, 'Fear God, if you should be believers.'

5:113
They said, 'We wish to eat from it and let our hearts be reassured and know that you have been truthful to us and be among its witnesses.'

5:114
Jesus, the son of Mary said, 'O God, our Lord, send down a table to us from the heaven to be a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the best of providers.'

5:115
God said, 'Indeed, I will send it down to you, *Psalms 23:5 but whoever disbelieves afterwards from among you - then indeed, I will punish him with a punishment by which I have not punished anyone among the worlds.'"

5:116
And [beware the Day] when God will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as gods besides God'?" He will say, "You are Exalted! It was not for me to say that which I have no right to. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who are Knower of the unseen.

5:117
I did not say [anything] to them except what You commanded me - to serve God, *Matthew 4:10*Luke 4:8 my Lord and your Lord." *Mark 12:29, *John 20:17 And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took my soul, You were the Observer over them, and You are Witness over all things.

5:118
If You should punish them - indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them - indeed it is You who are the Almighty, the Wise."

5:119
God will say, "This is the Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness." There are Gardens for them in which rivers flow beneath them, wherein they will abide forever, God being pleased with them, and they with Him. That is the great success.

5:120
The kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever is within them [belongs] to God. *Psalms 89:11, *Job 41:11 And He is Powerful over all things.
