Revealed 63rd in the Qur'an

43:1
Ha, Meem.

43:2
By the clear Book,

43:3
Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an so that you might understand.

43:4
And indeed it is in the Mother of the Scripture with Us, exalted and full of wisdom.

43:5
Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people?

43:6
And how many prophets did We send among the former [peoples]?

43:7
But no prophet would come to them except that they used to ridicule him. *2 Chronicles 36:16

43:8
And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former [peoples] has preceded.

43:9
And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They would surely say, "They were created by the Almighty, the Knowing."

43:10
[The One] who has made the earth a cradle for you and made roads upon it for you so that you might be guided,

43:11
And who sends down water from the heaven in measured amounts, and We revive a dead land thereby - thus you will be brought forth -

43:12
And who created the species, all of them, and has made ships for you and animals which you mount

43:13
So that you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say, "He who has subjected this to us is Exalted, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it.

43:14
And indeed we will [surely] return to our Lord."

43:15
But they have attributed a portion to Him from His servants. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful.

43:16
Or has He taken daughters out of what He has created, and chosen you for sons?

43:17
And when one of them is given good news of that which he attributes to the Most Gracious in comparison, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.

43:18
So is [an idol] produced in ornaments and not clear in the dispute [comparable to God?]

43:19
And they have made the angels females, who are servants of the Most Gracious. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.

43:20
And they said, "If the Most Gracious had willed, we would not have served them." They have no knowledge of that. They do nothing except falsify.

43:21
Or have We given them a book before [the Qur'an] to which they are adhering?

43:22
Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are [rightly] guided in their footsteps."

43:23
And similarly, We did not send any warner into a city before you except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are following in their footsteps."

43:24
[Each warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] which you found your fathers upon?" They said, "Indeed we are disbelievers in that which you were sent with."

43:25
So We took retribution from them; then see how the end was for the deniers.

43:26
And when Abraham said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you serve ~*Joshua 24:2

43:27
Except for He who created me; *Book of Jubilees 12:1 - 3 and indeed, He will guide me."

43:28
And He made it a Word remaining among his descendants so that they might return [to it].

43:29
However, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Mecca] and their fathers until the truth and a clear messenger came to them.

43:30
But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are disbelievers concerning it."

43:31
And they said, "Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"

43:32
Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned their livelihood among them in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] so that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.

43:33
And if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Gracious - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to ascend for their houses

43:34
And doors and thrones [of silver] upon which to recline for their houses

43:35
And gold ornament. But all that is nothing but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for those who fear [God].

43:36
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Gracious - We appoint a devil for him, and he is a companion to him.

43:37
And indeed, the devils avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided

43:38
Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "Oh, I wish that there was the distance between the east and west between me and you - how wretched a companion."

43:39
And it will never benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment.

43:40
Then will you make the deaf hear, or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?

43:41
And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them.

43:42
Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability.

43:43
So adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.

43:44
And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and soon you are [all] going to be questioned.

43:45
And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made gods besides the Most Gracious to be served?

43:46
And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."

43:47
But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.

43:48
And We did not show them a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction so that perhaps they might return [to God].

43:49
And they said [to Moses], "O magician, invoke your Lord for us by what He has promised you. *Exodus 8:8, *Exodus 10:16 - 17 Indeed, we will be guided."

43:50
But when We removed the affliction from them, at once they broke [their word]. *Exodus 8:13 - 15, *Exodus 10:19 - 20

43:51
And Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, "O my people, does the kingdom of Egypt not [belong] to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see?

43:52
Or am I [not] better than this one who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear?

43:53
Then why have bracelets of gold not been placed upon him or angels come with him in conjunction?"

43:54
So he persuaded his people to make light [of Moses], and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient [of God].

43:55
And when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all.

43:56
And We made them a precedent and an example for the later [peoples].

43:57
And when the son of Mary was set forth as an example, immediately your people turned away.

43:58
And they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?" They did not set forth the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.

43:59
Jesus was nothing but a servant *Matthew 12:18 upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.

43:60
And if We willed, We could have made angels [instead] of you succeeding [one another] on the earth.

43:61
And indeed, [Jesus] will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, *Matthew 24:30 so do not be in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.

43:62
And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is a clear enemy to you.

43:63
And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make some of those [matters] clear to you in which you differ, so fear God *Matthew 10:28, *Luke 12:5 and obey me.

43:64
Indeed, God is my Lord and your Lord, *Mark 12:29, *John 20:17 so serve Him. *Matthew 4:10*Luke 4:8 This is a straight path."

43:65
But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], *John 9:16 so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.

43:66
Are they waiting [for nothing] except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they do not perceive?

43:67
Close friends will be enemies to each other that Day, *2 Ezra 6:24 except for those who fear [God]

43:68
[To whom God will say], "O My servants, there will be no fear concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,

43:69
[You] who believed in Our verses and were in submission [to God].

43:70
Enter the Garden delighted, you and your kinds."

43:71
Plates and vessels of gold will be circulated among them. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide eternally therein.

43:72
And that is the Garden which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.

43:73
There is much fruit for you therein from which you will eat. *2 Ezra 7:53

43:74
Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Gehenna, abiding eternally.

43:75
It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they [will be] in despair therein.

43:76
And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.

43:77
And they will call, "O Malik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."

43:78
We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you were averse to the truth.

43:79
Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].

43:80
Or do they think that We do not hear their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers are with them recording.

43:81
Say, "If the Most Gracious had a son, then I would be the first among [his] servants -

43:82
[But] the Lord of the heavens and the earth is exalted above what they describe - [He is the] Lord of the Throne."

43:83
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.

43:84
And it is God who is God in the heaven, and [He is] God on the earth. *Deuteronomy 4:39 And He is the Wise, the Knowing.

43:85
And He is blessed - [He to] whom the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them [belong], and with whom is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned.

43:86
And those they invoke besides Him do not possess [power of] intercession; but only those who testify to the truth, and they know.

43:87
And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "God." So how are they deluded?

43:88
And [God acknowledges] his saying, "O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe."

43:89
So overlook them and say, "Peace." But soon they are going to know.
