19:1
Kaf, Ha, Ya, 'Ayn, Saad.

19:2
[This is] a reminder of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zacharias

19:3
When he called a private supplication to his Lord.

19:4
He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and I have not been wretched in my supplication to You, my Lord.

19:5
And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me an heir from Yourself

19:6
Who will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him pleasing [to You], my Lord."

19:7
[He was told], "O Zacharias, indeed We give you good news of a boy whose name will be John. *Luke 1:13 We have not assigned [this] name to any before." *Luke 1:60 - 61

19:8
He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?" *Luke 1:18

19:9
[The angel] said, "Thus, your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.'"

19:10
[Zacharias] said, "My Lord, make a sign for me." *Luke 1:18 He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak *Luke 1:20 to the people for three nights, [being] sound [in health]."

19:11
So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them *Luke 1:22 to exalt [God] in the morning and evening.

19:12
[God] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while only] a boy

19:13
And compassion from Us and purity, and he was fearing [of God]

19:14
And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant.

19:15
And peace is upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the Day he is raised alive.

19:16
And remember in the Scripture, [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.

19:17
And she took a partition [in seclusion] from them. Then We sent Our [Holy] Spirit to her, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.

19:18
She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Gracious from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing [of God]."

19:19
He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy." *Luke 1:30 - 31

19:20
She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?" *Luke 1:34

19:21
He said, "Thus, your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.'"

19:22
So she conceived him, and she withdrew to a remote place with him.

19:23
And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was forgotten in oblivion."

19:24
But [Jesus] called her from below her, "Do not grieve; verily your Lord has provided a stream beneath you.

19:25
And shake the trunk of the palm tree toward you; it will drop ripe, fresh dates upon you.

19:26
So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see anyone from among humanity, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed [abstention through] a fast to the Most Gracious, so I will not speak to [any] man today.'"

19:27
Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done an unprecedented thing.

19:28
O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste."

19:29
So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is a child in the cradle?"

19:30
[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.

19:31
And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined prayer upon me and purifying [alms] as long as I remain alive

19:32
And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.

19:33
And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I die and the Day I am raised alive."

19:34
That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute.

19:35
It is not [befitting] for God to take a son; He is Exalted! When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.

19:36
[Jesus said], "And indeed, God is my Lord and your Lord, *Mark 12:29, *John 20:17 so serve Him. *Matthew 4:10, *Luke 4:8 That is a straight path."

19:37
Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, *John 9:16 so woe to those who disbelieved - from the scene of a tremendous Day.

19:38
How [clearly] they will hear and see the Day they come to Us, but the wrongdoers are in clear error today.

19:39
And warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe.

19:40
Indeed, it is We who will inherit the earth and whoever is on it, and they will be returned to Us.

19:41
And remember in the Scripture, [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

19:42
When he said to his father, "O my father, why do you serve that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all? ~*Joshua 24:2, *Book of Jubilees 12:1 - 2

19:43
O my father, indeed knowledge has come to me which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path.

19:44
O my father, do not serve Satan. Indeed Satan is disobedient to the Most Gracious.

19:45
O my father, indeed I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious will touch you so you would be a companion to Satan [in Hellfire]."

19:46
[His father] said, "Do you have no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me for a prolonged time."

19:47
[Abraham] said, "Peace will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. Indeed, He is gracious to me.

19:48
And I will leave you and those you invoke other than God and I will invoke my Lord. Perhaps I will not be wretched in invocation to my Lord."

19:49
So when he had left them and those they served other than God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, *Joshua 24:3 - 4 and We made each [of them] a prophet.

19:50
And We gave them of Our mercy, and We made a high tongue of truth for them.

19:51
And remember in the Scripture, Moses. Indeed, he was chosen, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

19:52
And We called him from the right side of the Mount and brought him near, confiding [to him].

19:53
And We gave him his brother Aaron as a prophet out of Our mercy.

19:54
And remember in the Scripture, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

19:55
And he used to enjoin prayer on his people and purifying [alms], and he was pleasing to his Lord.

19:56
And remember in the Scripture, Idris [Enoch]. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

19:57
And We raised him to a high place. *Book of Enoch 87:3

19:58
Those were the ones upon whom God bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ark] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Gracious were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping.

19:59
But successors came after them who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet error -

19:60
Except those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter the Garden and will not be wronged at all.

19:61
[Therein are] Gardens of Eden which the Most Gracious has promised His servants in the unseen. Indeed, His promise is coming.

19:62
They will not hear any idle talk therein - only [greetings of] peace - and they will have their provision therein, morning and evening.

19:63
That is the Garden, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of God.

19:64
[Gabriel said], "And we [angels] do not descend except by the order of your Lord. That before us and that behind us and what is in between [belong] to Him. And your Lord is never forgetful -

19:65
Lord of the heavens and the earth *Acts 17:24 and whatever is between them - so serve Him and have patience in serving Him. Do you know of any similarity to Him?" *Exodus 15:11, *Psalms 89:6, *Isaiah 40:18, *Isaiah 40:25, *Isaiah 46:5, *Isaiah 46:9, *Baruch 3:36

19:66
And the disbeliever says, "When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive?"

19:67
Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?

19:68
So by your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils; then We will bring them to be present around Gehenna upon their knees.

19:69
Then We will surely extract those who were worst in insolence against the Most Gracious from every sect.

19:70
Then, surely it is We who are most knowing of those most worthy of burning therein.

19:71
And there are none of you except he will come to it. This is an inevitability decreed upon your Lord.

19:72
Then We will save those who feared [God] and leave the wrongdoers within it on their knees. *Isaiah 45:23, *Romans 14:11

19:73
And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Which of [our] two groups is best in position and best in assembly?"

19:74
And how many generations have We destroyed before them who were better in possessions and [outward] appearance?

19:75
Say, "Whoever is in error - let the Most Gracious extend an extension for him until, when they see that which they were promised - either punishment [in this world] or the Hour [of Resurrection] - they will come to know who is worst in position and weaker in soldiers."

19:76
And God increases those who were guided in guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for recourse.

19:77
Then, have you seen he who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children?"

19:78
Has he looked into the unseen, or has he taken a covenant from the Most Gracious?

19:79
No! We will record what he says and extend the punishment for him extensively.

19:80
And We will inherit him [in] what he says, and he will come to Us alone.

19:81
And they have taken gods besides God so that they would be honor for them.

19:82
No! Those "gods" will deny their worship and will be opponents against them [on the Day of Judgement].

19:83
Do you not see that We have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them to [evil] with [constant] incitement?

19:84
So do not be impatient over them. We only count out a [limited] number to them.

19:85
On the Day We will gather those who fear [God] to the Most Gracious as a delegation

19:86
And will drive the criminals to Gehenna in thirst

19:87
None will possess [the power of] intercession except he who had taken a covenant from the Most Gracious.

19:88
And they say, "The Most Gracious has taken a son [for Himself]." *2 Ezra 2:47, *Mark 15:39, *Acts 8:37, *Acts 9:20

19:89
You have done an atrocious thing.

19:90
The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation

19:91
That they invoke a son to the Most Gracious.

19:92
And it is not appropriate for the Most Gracious that He should take a son.

19:93
There is no one in the heavens and earth except that he comes to the Most Gracious as a servant. *All, *Abraham, *Ahijah, *Caleb, *the Children of Israel, *Daniel, *David, *Eliakim, *Elijah, *Enoch, *Esau, *Ezra, *Hezekiah, *Isaac, *Isaiah, *Israel, *Jacob, *Jeremiah, *Jesus, *Job, *Jonah of Amittai, *Joshua, *Lot, *Moses, *Paul, *Samson, *Samuel, *Solomon, *Zerubbabel, *the Prophets

19:94
He has enumerated them and counted them [in] number.

19:95
And all of them are coming to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection.

19:96
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - the Most Gracious will appoint love for them.

19:97
So, We have made [the Qur'an] easy in the Arabic language so that you may give good news to those who fear [God] thereby, and to warn a hostile people thereby.

19:98
And how many generations have We destroyed before them? Do you perceive anyone from them or hear a sound from them?
