[For] those who do not know say, "Why does God not speak to us or there come to us a sign?" Thus spoke those before them like their words. Their hearts resemble each other. We have shown clearly the signs to a people who are certain [in faith].
[The ones] who took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life deluded. So Today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day of theirs and for having rejected Our signs.
10:95 - 97, Qur'an
[So] never be of those who deny the signs of God and [thus] be among the ones in loss. Indeed, those upon whom the word of your Lord has come into effect will not believe, even if every sign should come to them, until they see the painful punishment.
Those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Why were not angels sent down to us, or [why] do we [not] see our Lord?" They have certainly become arrogant within themselves and [become] insolent with great insolence.
54:9 - 15, Qur'an
[For] the people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A man possessed," and he was repelled. So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." Then We opened the gates of the heaven with water pouring down and caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, sailing under Our eyes as reward for he who had been denied. And We left it as a sign, so are there any who will remember?
43:46 - 47, Qur'an
And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds." But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.
And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture, but it came under disagreement. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, it would have been judged between them. And indeed they are, concerning the Qur'an, in disquieting doubt -
[For] when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are but] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are, in both, disbelievers."
And [yet] they [swore] by God their strongest oaths that if a sign came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, "The signs are only with God." And what will make you perceive that even if a sign came, they would not believe?
Luke 16:30 - 31, Gospel
[But they say,] "No, father Abraham, if one went to them from the dead, they will repent." And [so Abraham] said to him, "If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead -"
[For] even if We had sent down to them the angels and the dead spoke to them and We gathered together everything in front of them, they would not believe unless God should will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant.
[For] I will turn away from My signs those who are arrogant upon the earth without truth; and if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. And if they see the way of righteousness, they will not take it as a way; but if they see the way of error, they will take it as a way. That is because they have denied Our signs and they were heedless of them.
Say, "Have you considered if God should take away your hearing and your sight and set a seal upon your hearts, which god other than God could bring them [back] to you?" Look how We diversify the verses; then they [still] turn away.
[But] if their evasion is difficult for you, then if you are able to seek a tunnel into the earth or a stairway into the heaven to bring them a sign, [then do so]. But if God had willed, He would have united them upon guidance. So never be of the ignorant.
And if God had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He causes to stray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
[Then] what is [the matter] with you [that you are] two groups concerning the hypocrites, while God has made them fall back [into error and disbelief] for what they earned. Do you wish to guide those whom God has sent astray? And he whom God sends astray - never will you find for him a way [of guidance] -
John 12:40, Gospel
[For] He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and [unless they should] be converted, and [then] I should heal them.
Matthew 9:28 - 29, Gospel
[So remember] when [Jesus] had come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus says to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, master." Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith, be it to you -
Matthew 8:5 - 8, Gospel
And when Jesus had entered into Capernaum, there came to him a centurion, beseeching him, and saying, "Master, my servant lies at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented." And Jesus says to him, "I will come and heal him." The centurion answered and said, "Master, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof, but speak the word only, and my servant will be healed."
Matthew 15:21 - 22, Gospel
Then Jesus went from there, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried to him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O master, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil."
Matthew 13:54, Gospel
[But] when he had come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, "From where does this [man] have this wisdom, and [these] mighty works?"
Matthew 13:57 - 58, Gospel
And they were offended in him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house." And he did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
John 12:37 - 40, Gospel
[And so even] though he had done so many miracles before them, they did not believe on him. That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?" Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again, "He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them."
[So] certainly did their messengers come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in that which they had denied before. Thus does God seal over the hearts of the disbelievers.
27:80 - 81, Qur'an
[So] indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they have turned their backs retreating. And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who [already] believe in Our verses so they are submitting to God.
16:33 - 34, Qur'an
Do the disbelievers await [anything] except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And God wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves. So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
[That occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Serve not except God." [But] they said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we, in that with which you have been sent, are disbelievers."
23:33 - 34, Qur'an
[As with] the eminent among [Noah's] people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be in loss."
6:8 - 9, Qur'an
And [thus] they say, "Why was there not sent down to him an angel?" But if We had sent down an angel, the matter would have been decided; then they would not be reprieved. And if We had made him an angel, We would have made him [appear as] a man, and We would have covered them with that in which they cover themselves.
[Then] do they [still] wait for anything except that the angels should come to them or your Lord should come or that there come some of the signs of your Lord? The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before or had earned through its faith some good. Say, "Wait. Indeed, we [also] are waiting."
Exodus 10:1 - 2, Torah
[Whereby] the Lord said to Moses, "Go in toward Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might show these My signs before him. And that you may tell in the ears of your son, and of your son's son, what things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them; that you may know how I [am] the Lord."
Exodus 10:3 - 5, Torah
And [so] Moses and Aaron came in toward Pharaoh, and said to him, "Thus the Lord says, God of the Hebrews, 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me. Else, if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring the locusts into your coast. And they will cover the face of the earth, that one is not able to see the earth, and they will eat the residue of that which has escaped, which remains to you from the hail, and will eat every tree which grows for you out of the field."
7:130 - 132, Qur'an
[And so] We certainly seized the people of Pharaoh with years of famine and a deficiency in fruits that perhaps they would be reminded. But when good came to them, they said, "This is ours [by right]." And if a bad [condition] struck them, they saw an evil omen in Moses and those with him. Unquestionably, their fortune is with God, but most of them do not know. And they said, "No matter what sign you bring us with which to bewitch us, we will not be believers in you." So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people.
7:134 - 135, Qur'an
And when the punishment descended upon them, they said, "O Moses, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. If you [can] remove the punishment from us, we will surely believe you, and we will send with you the Children of Israel." But when We removed the punishment from them until a term which they were to reach, then at once they broke their word -
20:78 - 80, Qur'an
So Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, and there covered them from the sea that which covered them, and Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide [them]. O Children of Israel, We delivered you from your enemy, and We made an appointment with you at the right side of the mount, and We sent down to you manna and quails.
And We did certainly give Moses the Book and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Holy Spirit. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed.
[So] ask the Children of Israel how many a sign of evidence We have given them. And whoever exchanges the favor of God [for disbelief] after it has come to him - then indeed, God is severe in penalty.
5:109 - 110, Qur'an
[So be warned of] the Day when God will assemble the messengers and say, "What was the response you received?" They will say, "We have no knowledge. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen" - [the Day] when God will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, remember My favor upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the Holy Spirit and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and [remember] when I taught you writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you designed from clay [what was] like the form of a bird with My permission, then you breathed into it, and it became a bird with My permission; and you healed the blind and the leper with My permission; and when you brought forth the dead with My permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from [killing] you when you came to them with clear proofs and those who disbelieved among them said, "This is not but obvious magic."
And [so] nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former [peoples] denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.
41:13 - 16, Qur'an
[So] if they turn away, then say, "I have warned you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt [that struck] 'Aad and Thamud - [that occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Serve not except God." They said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we, in that with which you have been sent, are disbelievers." As for 'Aad, they were arrogant upon the earth without truth and said, "Who is greater than us in strength?" Did they not consider that God who created them was greater than them in strength? But they were rejecting Our signs. So We sent upon them a screaming wind during days of misfortune to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the worldly life; but the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgracing, and they will not be helped.
30:57 - 60, Qur'an
So that Day, their excuse will not benefit those who wronged, nor will they be asked to appease [God]. And We have certainly presented to the people in this Qur'an from every [kind of] example. But, if you should bring them a sign, the disbelievers will surely say, "You [believers] are but falsifiers." Thus does God seal the hearts of those who do not know. So be patient. Indeed, the promise of God is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain [in faith].
