Mark 8:11, Gospel
[Remember when] the Pharisees came forth, and began to question [Jesus], seeking a sign from [him] from heaven, tempting him.
[For] those who do not know say, "Why does God not speak to us or there come to us a sign?" Thus spoke those before them like their words. Their hearts resemble each other. We have shown clearly the signs to a people who are certain [in faith].
[But] those who disbelieved say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Indeed, God leaves astray whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him]."
[And thus] upon God is the direction of the [right] way, and among the various paths are those deviating. And if He willed, He could have guided you all.
[But] God will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites -
[The ones] who took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life deluded. So Today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day of theirs and for having rejected Our signs.
Those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Why were not angels sent down to us, or [why] do we [not] see our Lord?" They have certainly become arrogant within themselves and [become] insolent with great insolence.
[For] He shows you His signs. So which of the signs of God do you deny?
[For] indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding.
[So] say, "Observe what is in the heavens and earth." But of no avail will signs or warners be to a people who do not believe.
[For] the people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." Then We opened the gates of the heaven with water pouring down and caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, sailing under Our eyes as reward for he who had been denied. And We left it as a sign, so are there any who will remember?
And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority.
And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture, but it came under disagreement. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, it would have been judged between them. And indeed they are, concerning the Qur'an, in disquieting doubt.
[For] when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are but] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are, in both, disbelievers."
[Yet] they [swore] by God their strongest oaths that if a sign came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, "The signs are only with God." And what will make you perceive that even if a sign came, they would not believe?
Luke 16:30 - 31, Gospel
[But they say,] "No, father Abraham, if one went to them from the dead, they will repent." And [so Abraham] said to him, "If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead."
[For] even if We had sent down to them the angels and the dead spoke to them and We gathered together everything in front of them, they would not believe unless God should will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant.
[For] I will turn away from My signs those who are arrogant upon the earth without right; and if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. And if they see the way of consciousness, they will not adopt it as a way; but if they see the way of error, they will adopt it as a way. That is because they have denied Our signs and they were heedless of them.
[And thus] We will turn away their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it the first time. And We will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly.
That is because God would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is within themselves.
10:96 - 97, Qur'an
[So] indeed, those upon whom the word of your Lord has come into effect will not believe, even if every sign should come to them, until they see the painful punishment.
Say, "Have you considered if God should take away your hearing and your sight and set a seal upon your hearts, which god other than God could bring them [back] to you?" Look how We diversify the verses; then they [still] turn away.
[Or] will you make the deaf hear, or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?
Indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they have turned their backs retreating.
And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are in submission to God.
And if God had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He causes to stray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
[So] indeed, you do not guide whom you love, but God guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.
[Thus] not upon you, is [responsibility for] their guidance, but God guides whom He wills.
[So] if they turn away, - then only upon you is [responsibility for] clear notification.
[Then] what is [the matter] with you [that you are] two groups concerning the hypocrites, while God has made them fall back [into error and disbelief] for what they earned. Do you wish to guide those whom God has sent astray? And he whom God sends astray - never will you find for him a way [of guidance].
John 12:40, Gospel
[For] He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and [unless they should] be converted, and [then] I should heal them.
[And thus,] had God known any good in them, He would have made them hear. [But] if He had made them hear, they would [still] have turned away, while they were refusing.
And [so] it is not for a soul to believe except by permission of God, and He will place defilement upon those who will not use reason.
51:54 - 55, Qur'an
So leave them, for you are not to be blamed. [But] remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.
10:42 - 43, Qur'an
And among them are those who listen to you. But can you cause the deaf to hear, although they will not use reason? And among them are those who look at you. But can you guide the blind although they will not [attempt to] see?
[So] it was revealed to Noah that, "No one will believe from your people except those who have already believed, so do not be distressed by what they have been doing."
Matthew 9:28 - 29, Gospel
[So remember] when [Jesus] had come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus says to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, master." Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith, be it to you.
Mark 9:23 - 24, Gospel
[For] if you can believe, all things [are] possible to him who believes." And straightaway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, "Master, I believe; help my unbelief."
Matthew 8:5 - 8, Gospel
And when Jesus had entered into Capernaum, there came to him a centurion, beseeching him, and Jesus says to him, "I will come and heal him." The centurion answered and said, "Master, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof, but speak the word only, and my servant will be healed."
Matthew 8:10, Gospel
When Jesus heard [it], he marveled, and said to those who followed, "Verily I say to you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel."
Matthew 8:13, Gospel
[So] Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, [so] be it done to you." And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
Matthew 15:21 - 22, Gospel
Then Jesus went from there, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried to him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O master, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil."
Matthew 15:28, Gospel
Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great [is] your faith; be it to you even as you will." And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Matthew 13:57 - 58, Gospel
[But when he had come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, and] they were offended in him. [So] Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house." And he did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Matthew 12:24, Gospel
[For] when the Pharisees heard [what he had done], they said, "This [fellow] does not cast out devils, but by Baalzebub the prince of the devils."
[So] certainly did their messengers come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in that which they had denied before. Thus does God seal over the hearts of the disbelievers.
John 12:37 - 40, Gospel
[And so even] though he had done so many miracles before them, they did not believe on him. That the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?" Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again, "He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them."
27:80 - 81, Qur'an
[Thus] indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they have turned their backs retreating. And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are submitting to God.
16:33 - 34, Qur'an
Do the disbelievers await [anything] except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And God wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves. So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
[That occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Worship not except God." [But] they said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we, in that with which you have been sent, are disbelievers."
23:33 - 34, Qur'an
[As with] the eminent among [Noah's] people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers."
[And they also said to Salih,] "You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."
[And they said to Shu'ayb,] "You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars."
[And Pharaoh said to Moses,] "Why have there not been placed upon him bracelets of gold or come with him the angels in conjunction?"
6:8 - 9, Qur'an
And [thus] they say, "Why was there not sent down to him an angel?" But if We had sent down an angel, the matter would have been decided; then they would not be reprieved. And if We had made him an angel, We would have made him [appear as] a man, and We would have covered them with that in which they cover themselves.
17:94 - 95, Qur'an
[Then] what prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them except that they said, "Has God sent a human messenger?" [So] say, "If there were upon the earth angels walking securely, We would have sent down to them from the heaven an angel [as a] messenger."
[Thus] if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth.
[Then] do they [still] wait for anything except that the angels should come to them or your Lord should come or that there come some of the signs of your Lord? The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before or had earned through its faith some good. Say, "Wait. Indeed, we [also] are waiting."
They say, "Why does [Muhammad] not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has there not come to them evidence of what was in the former Scriptures?
[For] We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority -
Exodus 10:1 - 2, Torah
[Whereby] the Lord said to Moses, "Go in toward Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might show these My signs before him. And that you may tell in the ears of your son, and of your son's son, what things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them; that you may know how I [am] the Lord."
7:130 - 132, Qur'an
[And thus] We certainly seized the people of Pharaoh with years of famine and a deficiency in fruits that perhaps they would be reminded. But when good came to them, they said, "This is ours [by right]." And if a bad [condition] struck them, they saw an evil omen in Moses and those with him. Unquestionably, their fortune is with God, but most of them do not know. And they said, "No matter what sign you bring us with which to bewitch us, we will not be believers in you." So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people.
7:134 - 135, Qur'an
And when the punishment descended upon them, they said, "O Moses, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. If you [can] remove the punishment from us, we will surely believe you, and we will send with you the Children of Israel." But when We removed the punishment from them until a term which they were to reach, then at once they broke their word -
Exodus 8:15, Torah
[For] when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and did not listen to them; as the Lord had said.
20:78 - 80, Qur'an
So Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, and there covered them from the sea that which covered them, and Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide [them]. O Children of Israel, We delivered you from your enemy, and We made an appointment with you at the right side of the mount, and We sent down to you manna and quails.
And We did certainly give Moses the Book and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Holy Spirit. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed.
[So] ask the Children of Israel how many a sign of evidence We have given them. And whoever exchanges the favor of God [for disbelief] after it has come to him - then indeed, God is severe in penalty.
5:109 - 110, Qur'an
[So be warned of] the Day when God will assemble the messengers and say, "What was the response you received?" They will say, "We have no knowledge. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen" - [the Day] when God will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, remember My favor upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the Holy Spirit and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and [remember] when I taught you writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you designed from clay [what was] like the form of a bird with My permission, then you breathed into it, and it became a bird with My permission; and you healed the blind and the leper with My permission; and when you brought forth the dead with My permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from [killing] you when you came to them with clear proofs and those who disbelieved among them said, "This is not but obvious magic."
Mark 3:22, Gospel
[For] the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He has Baalzebub, and by the prince of the devils he casts out devils."
And [so] nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.
41:13 - 16, Qur'an
[So] if they turn away, then say, "I have warned you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt [that struck] 'Aad and Thamud - [that occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Worship not except God." They said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we, in that with which you have been sent, are disbelievers." As for 'Aad, they were arrogant upon the earth without right and said, "Who is greater than us in strength?" Did they not consider that God who created them was greater than them in strength? But they were rejecting Our signs. So We sent upon them a screaming wind during days of misfortune to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the worldly life; but the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgracing, and they will not be helped.
30:57 - 60, Qur'an
So that Day, their excuse will not benefit those who wronged, nor will they be asked to appease [God]. And We have certainly presented to the people in this Qur'an from every [kind of] example. But, if you should bring them a sign, the disbelievers will surely say, "You [believers] are but falsifiers." Thus does God seal the hearts of those who do not know. So be patient. Indeed, the promise of God is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain [in faith].
