"In this New Spain, there were giants, besides the demonstration of their bones that are found in many places, say the ancient Toltec historians who were called Quinametzin, and that they came to know them and had many wars and dissensions with them, especially in all the land that is now called New Spain; which were destroyed and ended with great calamities and punishments from heaven, for some serious sins that they committed; and there is even the opinion of some of these ancient historians, that these giants descend from the Chichimecas themselves, and they say that in these northern lands where the ancient empire of the Chichimecas was, there are provinces where men live who are more than thirty palms high; and it is not to be wondered at, that even our Spaniards, although they have not yet entered the land, but through these coasts, such as the lands of Chicorans and Duharezases, have found men in these parts, eleven and twelve palms, and news of there being others taller. The greatest disappointment that these Quinametzin had was the year and figure that the natives call CE Toxtli, which means rabbit number one, 299 years after the Incarnation of Jesus Christ; and the third age that was called Ecatonatiuh ended in them, because of the great winds and earthquakes, and almost all of them were destroyed."

158 years after the great hurricane and 1964 [years] since the creation of the world, those of this earth had another destruction, which was The Quinametzin, Giants, who lived in this corner that is now called New Spain, which destruction was caused by a great earthquake, which swallowed them up and killed them, bursting the high volcanoes, so that they were all destroyed without any escaping, and if any escaped, it was one of those that were farther inland; and likewise many of the Toltecs died, and the Chichimecas and their surroundings, which was in the year of CE Tecpatl; and this age they called Tlaochitonatiuh, which means sun of the earth.
