78:1
What are they asking one another about?

78:2
About the great news -

78:3
That which they are in disagreement over.

78:4
No! They are going to know.

78:5
Then, no! They are going to know.

78:6
Have We not made the earth a resting place?

78:7
And the mountains as stakes [to anchor the earth]?

78:8
And We created you in pairs,

78:9
And made your sleep [a means for] rest,

78:10
And made the night as clothing,

78:11
And made the day for livelihood,

78:12
And constructed seven strong [heavens] above you,

78:13
And made a burning lamp [therein],

78:14
And sent down water pouring abundantly from the rain clouds,

78:15
So that We may bring forth grain thereby and vegetation

78:16
And gardens of entwined growth.

78:17
Indeed, the Day of Separation is an appointed time -

78:18
The Day the Trumpet is blown and you will come forth in multitudes,

78:19
And the heaven is opened and will become gates,

78:20
And the mountains are removed *Isaiah 54:10*Judith 16:15*Revelation 6:14 and will be a mirage.

78:21
Indeed, Gehenna has been lying in wait -

78:22
[It will be] a place of return for the transgressors,

78:23
In which they will remain for [everlasting] ages.

78:24
They will not taste [any] coolness therein or drink,

78:25
Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -

78:26
An appropriate recompense.

78:27
Indeed, they were not expecting an account

78:28
And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.

78:29
But We have enumerated all things in a Book. *Matthew 10:20, *Luke 12:7

78:30
So taste [the penalty], and We will never increase you in [anything] except punishment.

78:31
Indeed, there is success for those who fear [God] -

78:32
Orchards and grapevines,

78:33
And splendid companions of equal age,

78:34
And a full cup.

78:35
They will hear no idle talk therein or any falsehood -

78:36
[As] reward from your Lord, a gift [on the Day of] Account,

78:37
[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Gracious. They do not possess [authority] from Him [for] speech.

78:38
The Day that the [Holy] Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Gracious permits, and he will say what is correct.

78:39
That is the True Day; so he who wills may take a [way of] return to his Lord.

78:40
Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth, and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"
