The Worst of Creatures to God are the Dumb who do Not Use Reason - those who Say, "Why does a Sign [or a Miracle] Not Come to us?"

For God has Shown the Signs Clearly to a People who Use Reason and those of Knowledge

Mark 8:11, Gospel
[Remember when] the Pharisees came forth, and began to question [Jesus], seeking a sign from [him] from heaven, tempting him -

2:118, Qur'an
[For] those who do not know say, "Why does God not speak to us, or a sign come to us?"  Thus those before them spoke like their words.  Their hearts resemble each other.  We have shown the signs clearly to a people who are certain [in faith] -

30:22, Qur'an
[For] among His signs are the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed there are signs in that for those of knowledge.

16:11, Qur'an
[And among His signs is that] He causes the crops to grow for you thereby, and the olives, palm trees, grapevines, and from all the fruits. Indeed, there is a sign in that for a people who give thought.

45:5, Qur'an
And there are signs [in] the alternation of night and day and [in] what God sends down from the heaven of provision and gives life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and [in His] directing of the winds for a people who reason.

25:44, Qur'an
Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are like nothing except livestock. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way.

10:42, Qur'an
And among them are those who listen to you, but can you cause the deaf to hear, although they will not use reason?

8:21 - 22, Qur'an
[So] do not be like those who say, "We have heard," while they do not hear.
Indeed, the worst of living creatures to God are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason.

10:99 - 101, Qur'an
[But] had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed - all of them entirely. Then, would you compel the people in order that they become believers?
[But] it is not for a soul to believe except by permission of God, and He will place abomination upon those who will not use reason. [So] say, "Observe what is in the heavens and earth." But signs or warners will be of no avail to a people who do not believe.

What will Make you Perceive that if a Sign Came, they will Not Believe? For I will Turn My Signs Away from those who are Arrogant without Truth

And Thus, if they do Not Hear Moses and the Prophets, Neither will they be Persuaded Though One Rose from the Dead and Spoke to them

25:21, Qur'an
Those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Why were angels not sent down to us, or [why] do we [not] see our Lord?"  They have certainly become arrogant within themselves and [become] insolent with great insolence -

40:81, Qur'an
[For] He shows you His signs. So which of the signs of God do you deny?

23:45 - 46, Qur'an
[For] We [already] sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority
to Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people.

28:48, Qur'an
[And] when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are only] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are disbelievers in both."

6:109, Qur'an
And [yet] they [swore] their strongest oaths by God that if a sign came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, "The signs are only with God." And what will make you perceive that even if a sign came, they would not believe?

Luke 16:30 - 31, Gospel
[But they say,] "No, father Abraham, if one went to them from the dead, they will repent."
And [so Abraham] said to him, "If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead" -

6:111, Qur'an
[For] even if We had sent the angels down to them and the dead spoke to them and We gathered everything together in front of them, they would not believe unless God should will.  But most of them are ignorant [to that] -

7:146, Qur'an
[For] I will turn My signs away from those who are arrogant upon the earth without truth; and if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it.  And if they see the way of righteousness, they will not take it as a way; but if they see the way of error, they will take it as a way.  That is because they have denied Our signs and they were heedless of them.

10:96 - 97, Qur'an
[So] indeed, those whom the word of your Lord has come true against will not believe,
even if every sign should come to them, until they see the painful punishment.

39:59, Qur'an
[For] yes, My signs had come to you, but you denied them and were arrogant, and you were among the disbelievers.

Responsibility for their Guidance is Not upon you, Rather, God Guides whom He Wills and Sends Astray whom He Wills

Then do you Wish to Guide the Blind whom God has Sent Astray? So Leave them, there is only the Responsibility for Clear Notification upon you

43:40, Qur'an
Will you make the deaf hear, or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?

27:80, Qur'an
Indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they have turned their backs retreating -

16:37, Qur'an
[Even] if you should desire for their guidance, indeed, God does not guide those He sends astray, and they will have no helpers.

30:53, Qur'an
And [thus,] you cannot guide the blind away from their error.  You will only make those hear who believe in Our verses so they are in submission [to God].

6:35, Qur'an
[But] if their evasion is difficult for you, then if you are able to seek a tunnel into the earth or a stairway into the heaven to bring them a sign, [then do so].  But if God had willed, He would have united them upon guidance.  So never be among the ignorant -

2:272, Qur'an
[For responsibility for] their guidance is not upon you, but God guides whom He wills.

16:93, Qur'an
And if God had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He causes to stray whom He wills and guides whom He wills.  And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.

4:88, Qur'an
[Then] what is [the matter] with you [that you are] two groups concerning the hypocrites, while God has made them fall back [into error and disbelief] for what they earned.  Do you wish to guide those whom God has sent astray?  And he whom God sends astray - you will never find a way [of guidance] for him -

John 12:40, Gospel
[For] He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; so that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and [unless they should] be converted, and [then] I should heal them.

8:23, Qur'an
[And thus,] had God known any good in them, He would have made them hear. [But] if He had made them hear, they would [still] have turned away, while they were refusing.

10:100, Qur'an
And [so] it is not for a soul to believe except by permission of God, and He will place abomination upon those who will not use reason.

16:82, Qur'an
[So] if they turn away, then there is only [the responsibility for] clear notification upon you.

51:54 - 55, Qur'an
So leave them, for you are not to be blamed.
[But] remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.

No One will Believe Except those who have Already Believed - and Thus, Jesus said, "Do you Believe that I am Able to do this? According to your Faith, Be it to you"

But When Jesus Came into his Own Country, he did Not do Many Mighty Works there Because of their Unbelief

27:81, Qur'an
You cannot guide the blind away from their error.  You will only make those hear who [already] believe in Our verses so they are submitting to God.

11:36, Qur'an
And [thus] it was revealed to Noah that, "No one will believe from your people except those who have already believed, so do not be distressed by what they have been doing."

Matthew 9:28 - 29, Gospel
[So remember] when [Jesus] had come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus says to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?"  They said to him, "Yes, master."
Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith, be it to you."

Matthew 8:5 - 8, Gospel
And when Jesus had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, beseeching him,
and saying, "Master, my servant lies at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented." And Jesus says to him, "I will come and heal him."  The centurion answered and said, "Master, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof, but only speak the word, and my servant will be healed."

Matthew 8:10, Gospel
When Jesus heard [it], he marveled, and said to those who followed, "Verily I say to you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel."

Matthew 8:13, Gospel
[So] Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, [so] be it done to you."  And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Matthew 15:21 - 22, Gospel
Then Jesus went from there, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried to him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O master, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil."

Matthew 15:28, Gospel
Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, your faith [is] great; be it to you even as you will."  And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Matthew 13:54, Gospel
[But] when he had come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, "From where does this [man] have this wisdom, and [these] mighty works?"

Matthew 13:57 - 58, Gospel
And they were offended in him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house."
And he did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

John 12:37 - 40, Gospel
[And so even] though he had done so many miracles before them, they did not believe on him.
So that the saying of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"  Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again, "He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; so that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them."

7:101, Qur'an
[So] their messengers certainly came to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in that which they had denied before.  Thus, God seals over the hearts of the disbelievers -

6:110, Qur'an
[For] We will turn their hearts and their eyes away just as they refused to believe in it the first time. And We will leave them wandering blindly in their transgression.

8:53, Qur'an
That is because God would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is within themselves. And indeed, God is Hearing and Knowing.

Do the Disbelievers Await that the Angels should Come? But if God had Sent Down an Angel, then No Soul would Benefit from its Faith if it had Not Believed Before

So what Prevented the People from Believing Except that they Said, "Has God Sent a Human Messenger?"

16:33 - 34, Qur'an
Do the disbelievers await [nothing] except that the angels should come to them or the command of your Lord should come?  Thus did those do before them.  And God did not wrong them, but they had been wronging themselves.
So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

41:14, Qur'an
[That occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Do not serve [anything] except God."  [But] they said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we are disbelievers in that which you have been sent with."

23:33 - 34, Qur'an
[As with] the eminent among [Noah's] people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is nothing but a man like yourselves.  He eats from that which you eat and drinks from what you drink.
And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be in loss."

26:154, Qur'an
[And they also said to Salih,] "You are nothing but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be among the truthful."

26:186, Qur'an
[And they said to Shu'ayb,] "You are nothing but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars."

43:53, Qur'an
[And Pharaoh said to Moses,] "Why have bracelets of gold not been placed upon him or angels come with him in conjunction?"

6:8 - 9, Qur'an
And [thus] they say, "Why was an angel not sent down to him?"  But if We had sent down an angel, the matter would have been decided; then they would not be reprieved.
And if We had made him an angel, We would have made him [appear as] a man, and We would have covered them with that which they cover themselves in.

43:60, Qur'an
And if We willed, We could have made angels [instead] of you succeeding [one another] on the earth.

17:95, Qur'an
[So] say, "If there were angels upon the earth walking securely, We would have sent down an angel to them from the heaven [as a] messenger."

17:94, Qur'an
[Then] what prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them except that they said, "Has God sent a human messenger?"

6:158, Qur'an
[Then] do they [still] wait for [nothing] except that the angels should come to them or your Lord should come or that some of the signs of your Lord should come? The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come, no soul will benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before or had earned some good through its faith. Say, "Wait. Indeed, we are [also] waiting."

They Say, "Why does Muhammad Not Bring us a Sign from his Lord?" But We have Certainly Set Forth Every Example in this Qur'an

And Nothing has Prevented Us from Sending Signs Except that the Former Peoples Denied them, for We Certainly Sent Moses and Jesus with Our Signs

20:133, Qur'an
They say, "Why does [Muhammad] not bring us a sign from his Lord?"  Has evidence not come to them from what was in the former Scriptures?

11:96, Qur'an
[For] We certainly sent Moses with Our signs and a clear authority -

Exodus 10:1 - 2, Torah
[Whereby] the Lord said to Moses, "Go in toward Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, so that I might show My signs before him.
And so that you may tell in the ears of your son, and of your son's son, what things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them; so that you may know how I [am] the Lord."

7:130 - 132, Qur'an
[And so] We certainly seized the people of Pharaoh with years of famine and a deficiency in fruits so that perhaps they would be reminded.
But when good came to them, they said, "This is ours [by right]."  And if a bad [condition] struck them, they saw an evil omen in Moses and those with him.  Unquestionably, their fortune is with God, but most of them do not know.  And they said, "No matter what sign you bring us with which to bewitch us, we will not be believers in you."  So We sent the flood upon them and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people.

2:61, Qur'an
And [remember] when you said, "O Moses, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth green herbs from the earth for us and [also] its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions." [Moses] said, "Would you exchange what is better for what is less? Go into [any] settlement and indeed, you will have what you have asked." And they were struck with humiliation and poverty and incurred anger from God [upon themselves]. That was because they [repeatedly] disbelieved in the signs of God and killed the prophets without truth. That was because they disobeyed and were [habitually] transgressing.

3:49, Qur'an
And [remember We made Jesus] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who said], "Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I create [something] like the form of a bird for you from clay, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of God. And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead - by permission of God. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed there is a sign in that for you, if you are believers."

Mark 3:22, Gospel
[But] the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He has Baalzebub, and he casts out devils by the prince of the devils."

2:211, Qur'an
[So] ask the Children of Israel how many signs of evidence We have given them.  And whoever exchanges the favor of God [for disbelief] after it has come to him - then indeed, God is severe in penalty.

17:59, Qur'an
And [so] nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former [peoples] denied them.  And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her.  And We do not send the signs except as a warning.

41:13 - 16, Qur'an
[So] if they turn away, then say, "I have warned you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt [that struck] 'Aad and Thamud -
[that occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Do not serve [anything] except God."  They said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we are disbelievers in that which you have been sent with."  As for 'Aad, they were arrogant upon the earth without truth and said, "Who is greater than us in strength?"  Did they not consider that God who created them was greater than them in strength?  But they were rejecting Our signs.  So We sent a screaming wind upon them during days of misfortune to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the worldly life; but the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgracing, and they will not be helped.

30:57 - 60, Qur'an
So that Day, their excuse will not benefit those who wronged, nor will they be asked to appease [God].
[For] We have certainly set forth every [kind of] example to the people in this Qur'an.  But, if you should bring them a sign, the disbelievers will surely say, "You [believers] are nothing but falsifiers."  Thus, God seals the hearts of those who do not know.  So be patient.  Indeed, the promise of God is truth.  And do not let them disquiet you who are not certain [in faith].
